Yamaha FZ description

2003 FZ1 for sale, one of two special editions offered (one was black/grey, skunk, and one was black/yellow, bee).

On a scale of 1-10, I'd give the condition of the bike a 7. It's got some cosmetic issues, scratches here and there from being laid down twice while going down a gravel driveway, happened at very low speed. The side fairing kit will go with the bike (bought at Yamaha for $900), not currently installed due to needing to repaint the fairings.

Mechanically, the bike is perfect. All regular servicing has been done on time, currently has a new set of spark plugs, a recently oiled K&N air filter, and an oil change with less than 200 miles on it. Yoshi exhaust pipe. Handlebar has been turned upside down to increase comfort and allow the rider to lean slightly more forward, slightly reduces turn radius, easy to turn back upright.
Tires are in decent shape, front looks near new and rear shows wear, I replaced these two seasons ago but have done little riding.

Comes with two, like new, black and yellow Fulmer helmets with chrome tinted visors, sizes 2X and Med.
2X has been worn maybe a dozen times, Med worn once.
Also comes with large Joe Rocket leather jacket, with padded inserts.

Runs very well, I've never had any issues from this bike.

Plenty of power, doesn't smoke, doesn't leak.

Local Pick Up Only

The reason I'm selling this bike:
When I was young and naive I purchased a 950 cruiser off the showroom floor, two months later I decided it wasn't for me and traded it for this bike, the FZ1. Under the allure of factory financing, I made a deal - the bike was actually financed with a Yamaha credit card at 19.9% interest. I loved my motorcycle several years ago, but I've grown to resent it. I doubled payments for a couple of years and finally paid it off, now I want it gone. I can probably get more for it, but I'm not interested in asking 3-4 thousand like some of the other FZ1's on Craigslist. I know it has cosmetic issues and I'm not interested in looking at it another day.

The picture posted is a stock photo, I'll take more pictures asap.

2003 FZS1000 (FZ1, Special Edition)

The overall condition of the bike, on a scale of 1-10, is a strong 7. Aside from a few minor cosmetic issues, the bike is mechanical perfect. Featuring a recent service - new plugs, new oil and filter, fresh oil on K&N air filter. The cosmetic issues are minor scuffs and scrapes and are pictured.

  • Handlebar has been turned upside down to increase comfort and allow the rider to lean slightly more forward, slightly reduces turn radius, easy to turn back upright.
  • Tires are in decent shape, front looks near new and rear shows wear, I replaced these two seasons ago but have done little riding.
  • Yoshimura Race Pipe
  • K&N Air Filter
  • Two, like new, black and yellow Fulmer helmets with chrome tinted visors, sizes 2X and Med.
  • XL Joe Rocket leather jacket, with padded inserts.

I simply do not need this motorcycle anymore, local pick up only.

Yamaha Confirms Leaning Multi-Wheeler for 2014 – Will the Tesseract Concept Finally Become Reality?

Wed, 03 Jul 2013

Yamaha confirmed it plans to introduce a new Leaning Multi-Wheeler (LMW) vehicle for 2014. An accompanying image of a test unit in camouflage reveals two closely-aligned front wheels beneath a broad fairing. The new model will be a three-wheeler similar to Piaggio‘s MP3 scooter instead of the four wheels like the Tesseract concept (pictured further below) first introduced at the 2007 Tokyo Motor Show.

Wed, 19 Mar 2014

Earlier this month, we reported on the partnership between Yamaha and Movistar that would place the Spanish telecommunications company as title sponsor for the Yamaha MotoGP team for the next five years. The deal came at the eleventh hour, as contract negotiations and minor details needed to be sorted. Now, just days before the start of the 2014 season at the Grand Prix of Qatar, Yamaha has revealed its official 2014 MotoGP livery.
