Yamaha FZ description
I'm selling my beloved 2003 Yamaha FZ-1, I am the 2nd owner but have owned it since 2005. It has been very well-taken-care-of, always garaged, and has been a fantastic do-it-all bike, from fast sport riding to long-range touring. It is of course very fast, with a very torque-filled midrange that allows great acceleration without having to change gears (unlike the current 2006-2012 version, which has a few more HORSEPOWER at redline but lacks midrange and always has had jerky EFI mapping issues - read the mags). But I mainly set mine up for comfort and long-range riding. I set the (fully-adjustable front and rear) suspension to full soft, and it is like a comfy couch, soaking up bumps and allowing full-day rides. I also have equipped this bike with ThrottleMeister cruise control, flip-out highway pegs (visible in the picture), and a larger wind screento make long rides a breeze. Yet it wears recent Michelin Pilot Power 2CT tires to allow serious cornering and strong grip. It handles great with these tires (my favorite tires so far), with very light and neutral steering. Awesome brakes, too. Approximately. 9500mis, low for this year and cleaner than most if not all others!Bike runs good with the Yoshimura slip-on (not a real loud pipe) and Ivan's full jet kit. It also has a FIAMM freeway blaster horn, pointing straight ahead to wake up those texting cagers! It's got Battery Tender leads installed as well, clear turn lenses, and maybe 1 or 2 other things I can't remember now. It will make some new owner very happy. $3450 OBO, and it doesn't need a thing. Serious buyers only (i.e. no squids) - make sure this is the type of bike you want and you have the funds to buy it before coming to see it. Accompanied test-rides allowed, helmet and M license required (I will follow with my ZX-14, so no running away!). Email if interested or with any questions. Stoner to Miss Brno for Surgery – Title Defence Likely Over
Thu, 23 Aug 2012Casey Stoner has withdrawn from the Brno, Czech Republic MotoGP round to undergo surgery on his injured ankle. Trailing Yamaha‘s Jorge Lorenzo by 39 points and Honda teammate Dani Pedrosa by 21 points with seven rounds to go, Stoner’s hopes of repeating as MotoGP champion before retiring at the end of the season are all but dashed. The Repsol Honda rider injured his ankle in a high side crash in last weekend’s Indianapolis Grand Prix.
2013 Yamaha YZF-R6 Color and Graphic Options Announced
Thu, 13 Sep 2012Those of you hoping for an updated Yamaha YZF-R6 will have to wait for at least another year, as Yamaha announced the 599cc sportbike is returning for 2013 unchanged except for new colors and graphics. Yamaha last updated the R6 in 2008, equipping it with the company’s Yamaha Chip Controlled Intake (YCC-T) variable-length intake system. The lack of any significant updates to the 2013 R6 must be disappointing to Yamaha fans, especially as the color updates were announced the same day Kawasaki is expected to reveal a new 636cc ZX-6R.
Maybe the Evo class is the future for WSB?
Thu, 05 May 2011Did we see the future of World Superbike racing last weekend at the BSB event? Possibly, but only if everyone is on Evo spec machines in 2012. By setting the 2nd fastest lap in race one and running second for a while in race two, the brilliant Alex Lowes proved that with a good grid position an Evo spec machine can be competitive for part race distance at least.
