Here we have a well used example of the legendary RD04 Africa Twin, just freed from its shipping container. Aesthetically this bike is a bit rough, though the Honda colors show well. It's not a bad looking machine, it's just that you'll likely enjoy it more blasting down fire roads than looking at it amongst a motorcycle collection. Visually, there are plenty of things to nitpick. With that said, this bike runs very well, and I wouldn't hesitate to take it to Latin America if I needed to. Lets try this again - listed it in the wrong place last time... This is my 1987 Honda CR-500 that I bought new. It has been kept in storage in my barn for the last 13 years - never left in the weather. This bike was used in the California Desert, and taken care of like a baby. It comes with the following awesome accessories: DeVol rear disc aluminum cover, DeVol hydraulic reservoir protector. Acerbis front disc and fork protectors, Roost Boost, Sidewinder Front and rear Sprockets and Aluminum Bars. This bike is a BEAST, and was running perfectly when I moved to PA where it is now. I only ran Trick Racing Gas, and Castrol at 20:1 so the motor has been protected. This thing has so much power, you can climb a hill in 3rd. The picture is me jumping this exact bike out at El Mirage sometime around 1989 or so. I loved this machine... It HAS been sitting in the Barn for a while, so the front disc is locked, and the tires need to be replaced. I have not kicked it over, since the gas/oil mix in the carb is old too, and that should be replaced along with all the other fluids. The bike comes with no warranty, except my personal word (and I have a 100% seller rating for a reason) that there was nothing wrong with it when I moved to PA. It has an automatic transmission and ABS brakes. When these bikes were new they listed for over 15k. The only flaws on this bike are 2 scratched on each side of the rear fender. It was caused by a strap across the back seat when the bike was shipped to him. He tried to touch it up- but he is not the best body repair technician/painter. Up for auction is a 1976 Honda MR175 with additional parts. I accompanied the original owner of this motorcycle to the House of Honda in 1976 when his dad purchased this bike for him. We had lots of fun riding this motorcycle through the woods near his home for a few years, after which it sat in his garage for over 20 years. I purchased the bike from the original owner around 1998 and had to clean out the fuel system, carburetor and gas tank to get it running again. My son used the bike for a few years and it sat again in my garage from 2010 until a few months ago. Unfortunately, the fuel went bad and I had to clean out the carburetor and tank again. I'm downsizing my collection. My VFR1200 is in excellent condition, always stored in the garage with my other bikes. I'm the second owner, and have had it for almost 2 years. The saddlebags and trunk are keyed to the ignition. The factory metallic paint is super glossy and deep, as I keep it clean and waxed. I've changed the oil twice, using Castrol Power RS 4T full synthetic, last time at 7,500 miles. The horsepower and torque is ridiculous on this bike, 150+ and 90+, respectively. Of course you lose a little power to the shaft drive and single sided swing arm which looks great but no chain maintenance! I have installed a Leo Vince slip-on which in my opinion sounds great with the deep rumble, and also a plug-and-play Bazzaz Z-bomb which overcomes the OEM power restrictions in gears 1 and 2. I've also installed the dark smoke ZG sport touring screen.(The stock screen, factory passenger grab handles, and exhaust is included too. You have to take the stock exhaust because I don't want to look at that hideous thing in my garage!) Lastly, I installed a carbon fiber kit which consists of a factory tank protector, knee pads, gas lid, and triple tree, looks very sharp. I also replaced the battery with the Battery Tender Lithium variety which weighs 80% less than a lead acid. Anyways, the tires are in great shape, less than a thousand miles on them, so it's ready to go anywhere you do. Headlight, taillight, brake light, turn signals, horn, ignition switch with key, kill switch, electric start).Tires hold air but are weather-cracked and likely original from 1984 so replacement of all 3 tires would be advised before expecting dependability.Latch for seat is included but not attached due to lock housing damage on plastic side cover, seat opens freely.Fuel tank has minimal surface rust but does not seem to adversely affect fuel flow or overall function.Fuel petcock has been replaced with incorrect part so fuel flow/stop may only be accessed by removing plastic side cover and/or long needle-nose pliers. Wed, 28 Aug 2024Better suspension and Track mode brings us so close to an R9 Photos by Dave Schelske As the tail rider in a train of approximately seven identical Yamahas, I couldn’t help but watch in awe as each of us weaved our way through the notorious Tail of the Dragon, bending the bike underneath us to our will through the 120-something corners, the unison of the dance mesmerizing as each of us took our turn, one by one, around each apex, at irresponsible speeds, front wheels inches away from the person in front of us. This is the kind of trust you build up after you’ve ridden with the same group of people for years on end. We all know that riding with your friends is fun.

One wish still unrealized: the U.S. dealers won’t be getting the up-spec World Raid and numerous other versions of the T7 the EU enjoys - at least not this year.

Thu, 17 Aug 2023Riding 950 miles across three states in two days highlights this Tracer’s capabilities Photography by Joseph Augustin New motorcycle model introductions follow a well-worn path: travel to the event location, eat nice meals, get briefed on the bike of the moment, ride a route designed to highlight the bike’s strengths, take photos/video, eat more good food, return home, and write up a review. After 27 years in this industry, I still get a cheap thrill about throwing a leg over a new motorcycle before it is available to the general public. However, what really gets me going is when I have a chance to log more than just the couple of hundred miles typically covered in an intro and spend some real time on the road with said bike.

Thu, 06 Apr 2023Sport-tourer equipped with radar-based adaptive cruise control Last November, Yamaha Motor Europe revealed a new Tracer 9 GT+ at EICMA, a new version of its Triple-powered sport tourer equipped with a 7-inch TFT display, adaptive cruise control, and a radar-linked unified braking system. Yamaha Motor USA, however, remained quiet about it, and we later learned the Tracer 9 GT+ was not coming to the States for 2023. In fact, even the less techy regular Tracer 9 was left out of Yamaha Motor USA’s returning model announcements.

In case you forgot the premise of this whole thing, Yamaha offered us the opportunity to hang on to an MT-10 SP for an extended period of time, and since I have a soft spot for the bike, I decided to give it some tasteful upgrades to address some key weaknesses while also unleashing some trapped potential.
