Yamaha Signed On As Presenting Sponsor For Three-Event GEICO Motorcycle Superbike Shootout

Yamaha Motor Corporation, U.S.A., is proud to announce that it has signed on as sponsor for the GEICO Motorcycle Superbike Shootout Presented By Yamaha, a three-event championship motorcycle road racing series that includes the Yamaha SoCal Nationals at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, CA on April 26-27; the Pacific Nationals at Sonoma Raceway in Sonoma, CA on May 3-4; and the Mountain Nationals at Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, UT on May 24-25. The announcement was made by Bob Starr, General Manager of National Communications for Yamaha’s Motorsports Group. Yamaha Motor Europe has recently posted up on YouTube a delightful video about their riders.  Their secret for being so good at what they do is that they totally immerse themselves in Yamaha by working at the Yamaha offices. Hilarity ensues. James Toseland works the mail room, while Colin Edwards does security, quoting Eric Cartman from a 10 year-old-South Park episode.  Jorge Lorenzo is washing windows and Valentino Rossi is working the front desk.

Pro Racing Heading To The West Coast After All

A Pro-Am style, three-round professional motorcycle racing series is set to debut in 2014, run in conjunction with AFM, America’s oldest club racing organization. This according to a press release from Sonoma Raceway, which will also be hosting the first stop of the three-round series, May 3-4. Hosted and sanctioned by AFM, a full field of Pro Superbike and Pro Sportbike professional riders and teams are expected to compete in the event.
