Yamaha XT description

1996 Yamaha XT 225 dual sport motorcycle. Single cylinder, 4 stroke air cooled, electric start with a mono shock adjustable suspension.

I bought this bike 3 years ago for my son, to ride to school, practice and events, ect.(FYI In Arkansas a 14 year old can legally ride a motorcycle under 249cc anywhere. Check your laws.)

I have installed new: Battery, Brakes, Sprockets, Fuel Valve, Chain, Air Cleaner, Dyna Port Carb Kit and Rear Tire.(Rear tire has less than 50 miles! Front tire has 50-55% tread.)

This is an Excellent Bike. It runs great and gets phenominal mileage! (67 mpg plus for my kid, 58 with a 260 lb rider) It will cruise easily at 60 -65 but does slow on hills. It will top a decent hill with a 260 lb rider at 48 mph in high gear. (Would've been faster if shifted down but wanted to check it)

It will go anywhere you want to drive it.

It uses NO oil.

The ONLY problems are: Cracked signal light (my son let it fall over in diveway) its cracked but still in tact and works fine (see pic) Also has a few cosmetic scratches.(handlebars from tiedowns and a few on plastic from gen use)

This is a great bike for a starter bike(its not to tall)  run around bike, haul on your RV, cattle checker or Gas Saver. Its older but in perfect condition.

NOTE: This item is for sale locally and auction may end at any time without notice.

HELMET MANUFACTURER X-LITE will be unveiling one of their top-of-the-range lids in a variety of colour schemes favoured by Fiat Yamaha MotoGP star Jorge Lorenzo. The X-802 is now available in the MotoGP star's black paint scheme, with the recognisable red 'X' on the crown. The back of the helmet features an 'Evolution of Lorenzo', which charts the transition of the Mallorcan from boy to worldwide phenomenon, in a Charles Darwin cartoon stylee. If that doesn't float your boat there will be more options: Lorenzo's Captain America paint scheme, seen at the Indianapolis GP, will be available by the end of the year, along with the NASA-style astronaut helmet used during Lorenzo's stunning victory at Estoril. The helmet is priced at 484 euros (£442) on the European market.I feel a phone call coming on...

MotoGP to Re-Visit Rookie Rule

Tue, 19 Jun 2012

MotoGP organizers are re-opening discussion for the series’ rookie rule which prevents new riders from entering the series with factory teams. Introduced following the 2009 MotoGP season, the rule was designed to give satellite teams the chance to field young up-and-coming talents  they otherwise wouldn’t have been able to sign. The theory was the rule would protect the satellite teams and spread out the talent pool.
