This auction bid is for a 1980 Yamaha XT 250 dual sport. I purchased the bike from the original owner approximately 8 years ago for my wife; she rode it a couple of times and it's been stored since. Overall condition is very good for its age. There is a dent in the left side of the tank and the the handlebar is bent slightly (by original owner). There are also some chips in the sidecovers as seen in the photos. Mechanically the bike is in great shape and runs well. While removing the exhaust for painting the head broke off one of the exhaust bolts; the exhaust gasket still seals but this should be fixed before the bike is ridden extensively (no more than a $75 fix at your local bike shop, I've lowered the reserve to address this). The battery and tires are original and should also be replaced as well. Overall a very nice bike for riding or full restoration. The bike is being offered as-is with no warranty. I am relisting the bike as the previous high bidder did not pay for/pick up the bike within the specified timeframe; please do not bid unless you are serious about completing this transaction. Payment/delivery terms are as follows: The winning bidder is required to contact me via eBay messaging within 48 hours of auction close and specify a pickup date and time. Up for sale is my trusty xt 225. I live in Wisconsin so I never ride it. Its either winter, raining, or no time. So it has a whooping 4500 miles on it over 20 years of life. I bought it in 2011 and ride it about 200 miles a year, so time to sell it. I dropped it once in my garage and dented the tank. Then I had it in the back of my truck and dropped it and bent the bars. Then last fall, I was goofing off on some sand on the road and laid it down dented the left side further as seen in photos. The left mirror came off in the back of the truck when I dropped it in the bed of my flatbed. So, its a little beat up but not from hammering it on the trails. Anyhow, it has a new back tire, new luggage rack and runs like a top. But, it has been 3 years since the carb has been worked on so it needs some adjustment as it leaks out the overflow of the carb when the tank is full and the bike is parked if the fuel cock is not turned off. $1500 is firm and it ships from 54601. email me through ebay if you need to talk to me. Up for sale is my very nice 80 xt500, this is a low mileage bike at only 5,074 miles,all original down to the factory mirror,bike is not new, it does have a couple scratches and a couple of dings in the tank(I have a perfect tank if you want to purchase it separately)I have had 2 knee surgeries and I am getting older than I think I am LOL so it is getting harder to kick these big thumpers over for me,and I just don't ride it any more. The bike speaks for itself,I will hold for 2 weeks,after that it is $20 a day inside secure storage,as in the past people have left bikes in my garage way too long,sorry but that is the way it is.I will accept bank checks,cash or personal checks,but the bike does not leave my garage till payment is cleared,more trouble with other buyers in the past.I have put a tt500 carb on as the original xt's have the accelerator pump type and the tt's are way simplier.It had a issue with the key switch,so I have installed a new one and the old one does go with the bike,just in case someone wants it.A $500 deposit with paypal in 24 hours of the bike selling,as is no warrantys,don't bid if you aren't gonna buy it.bike is for sale locally so I reserve the right to end the auction early. Wed, 28 Aug 2024Better suspension and Track mode brings us so close to an R9 Photos by Dave Schelske As the tail rider in a train of approximately seven identical Yamahas, I couldn’t help but watch in awe as each of us weaved our way through the notorious Tail of the Dragon, bending the bike underneath us to our will through the 120-something corners, the unison of the dance mesmerizing as each of us took our turn, one by one, around each apex, at irresponsible speeds, front wheels inches away from the person in front of us. This is the kind of trust you build up after you’ve ridden with the same group of people for years on end. We all know that riding with your friends is fun.

One wish still unrealized: the U.S. dealers won’t be getting the up-spec World Raid and numerous other versions of the T7 the EU enjoys - at least not this year.

2024 Yamaha Tracer 9 GT+ Review
Thu, 17 Aug 2023Riding 950 miles across three states in two days highlights this Tracer’s capabilities Photography by Joseph Augustin New motorcycle model introductions follow a well-worn path: travel to the event location, eat nice meals, get briefed on the bike of the moment, ride a route designed to highlight the bike’s strengths, take photos/video, eat more good food, return home, and write up a review. After 27 years in this industry, I still get a cheap thrill about throwing a leg over a new motorcycle before it is available to the general public. However, what really gets me going is when I have a chance to log more than just the couple of hundred miles typically covered in an intro and spend some real time on the road with said bike.

Our reasoning is that, thanks to the sleuthing of Dennis Chung, we suspect the Yamaha Tracer 9 GT+ will be coming to the U.S. in 2024.
