You are bidding on a beautiful, in excellent condition with original miles, 1981 Yamaha XT 500. This bike was a nostalgic purchase with the goal in mind to have a retirement toy. Next thing, live happened! Before it sits in the garage collecting dust, I'd rather find it a new home. That thumper likes to purr.
The bike is original except for the carburetor. Recent oil change done. It is currently tagged and starts on the first 3 kicks running like a charm. With it comes a slew of parts, i.e. 12V conversion kit, new set of tires/tubes, maintenance manual, gasket set, shaft seals, progressive springs and other bits and pieces totaling close to $500 Title is clear and free. Yamaha to Cut Motorcycle Production in 2009
Thu, 26 Feb 2009With mounting inventories coupled with a drop in demand, Yamaha will be cutting its motorcycle production in Japan by 24 percent this year or to about 260,000 total units; one newspaper reported this would be a 40-year low for the manufacture. Yamaha plans to cut production for motorcycles and other products by 30 percent in the Americas, 20 percent in Europe but will maintain production levels in Asia where demand has not dropped off. The company is forecasting its group sales to fall 22 percent with an operating loss of about $300 million.
