I have purchased this XT500 and a XT550 together almost two years ago from a bike collector in an attempt to start my own. The XT550 is being used daily, while, this 500 is in such pristine shape and so rare (in this condition) that I decided to keep it empty off fluid and covered in the garage.

I am also including XT500 owner's manual, XT500 factory assembly manual and a Motorcyclist magazine from January 1976 that covers the XT500 engine (see images).

The questions picked up a few months later when we dug up trademark filings for a whole range of model names from an R2 to an R9.
