Yamaha XS description
Selling my motorcycle to help fund new music gear purchase. Hate to see it go but unfortunately don't have the funds for both! Started life as a 1983 XS650 Heritage. Bike did not have speedo/odometer when purchased, installed one roughly 150~ miles ago. Bike has CLEAR TITLE in hand and is being sold as-is. List of parts/work done:
- Hardtail done by Northeast Chop Shop in Windham, ME
- Harley Sportster tank
- Pamco electronic ignition
- High output ignition coil w/ new plug wires, caps, and plugs
- Slimline master cylinder w/ new brake lever (black)
- Drag bars (black)
- New clutch perch w/ lever (black)
- Biltwell 'kung fu' grips
- Keyless ignition
- Pandemonium Custom Choppers 'Ya Mama' exhaust w/ DEI black heat wrap
- Model A tail light w/ LED brake light
- UNI pod filters
- 3" Bar-end mirror
- Mini 2.25" speedometer
- Tires have very good tread life left
- Oil changed 100 miles ago
Has a few small oil leaks that are easy/cheap fixes, I just have not gotten to do them due to lack of time and space to do it. One is from the clutch pushrod inside the left side motor cover, another (small) one is from the neutral switch on top of the motor, and the other is from the tachometer drive on the front right of the engine case. If you install a tach/cable that will clear up. Neutral switch is a simple O-ring I believe, and the tach drive is just a seal + bushing. Bike will give a few drips after parking it so I wanted to note it to be clear. Paint on take has a couple small scuffs, no deep gouges, no dents.
Bike rides well and carbs have been jetted to accommodate the intake & exhaust modifications. 47.5 pilot jets and 145 mains. Idle mix screws 3.25 turns out. Bike is kick start only. Electric starter is there, but not hooked up. I have not tried it to confirm whether it works or not - you just need a starter relay and momentary start button to try it out. Starts up first or second kick when warm, takes a handful when it's cold out in the morning. Carbs are set up for a thumb/cable choke (available on 83-84 XS Heritage models I believe) but does not have a cable on it, so choke is manually adjusted if need be.
Bike overall runs and rides well. Hardtail with the springer seat really is not harsh at all when riding. Would be a perfect bike for someone to buy and tear down this winter for paint and powdercoat to make it awesome. I was also planning on putting a new headlight on it as the current one has a small switch and LED installed on the top that used to be for the high/low beam operation before an OEM switch was installed on the left handlebar that works High/low beam, horn, and turn signals.
Let me know if you need any other specific photos or information and I will do my best to get them for you.
