Up for sale is a 79 XS1100. The bike starts, runs, rides, stops, and shifts. It has a nice MAC 4-1 header. Overall, the bike is in good shape for the year, it just needs a little attention. It has a new stator (charges at 14.5-15v), new petcocks, and the carbs have been gone through.
The float valves stick a little and it will leak gas if the petcocks are left on. That is an issue that will definitely need addressed. The carbs will probably need synched also. The tank is clean inside but has a few dings and scratches, not too bad though. One side cover is broken as shown in the pics. The seat is in good shape. The kick starter works but won't return on its own, probably a bad spring I would guess, but the electric start works fine. Rear tire is good, front tire has some cracking. The battery will need replaced, I have just started it off a jump box. This is a chance to get a good deal on a large cc shaft drive Yamaha, and would be an easy winter project. Ben Spies Video Interview on 2012 MotoGP Season [Video]
Thu, 22 Mar 2012Yamaha Factory Racing today posted on its YouTube page a video interview with Ben “Elbowz” Spies, in which Spies discusses the soon to start 2012 season of MotoGP. In his usual calm, cool and under control manner Spies speaks frankly on how he prefers the 1000cc GP machine, saying it suits his style (elbows out!) better than the previous seasons’ 800cc bikes because the extra torque and horsepower of the liter-class bikes are, essentially, better matched to his physical stature. Spies also answers honestly the question of who he thinks he needs to keep an eye in 2012, including his teammate, Jorge Lorenzo.

Thu, 30 Jan 2014In what might be considered the most shocking news of 2014 so far, Nick Ienatsch and Ken Hill are going to Yale. While some might think the Chief and Lead instructors at the newly revamped Yamaha Champions Riding School are getting in over their heads, the two are at Yale as lead presenters for “Excellence In Motion: What Motorcycle Racing Can Teach Us About Success,” which begins at 4pm (local time) today. When put into context, their appearance at one of the nation’s top schools is understandable. Each has had their fair share of success aboard motorcycles, and they will be joined by two more champions on two-wheels, five-time Daytona 200 winner and 1993 World Superbike Champion Scott Russell, and Jamie Bestwick, an avid motorcyclist and winner of eight consecutive X-Games BMX Vert gold medals.
