Yamaha XS description

For sale, 1972 Yamaha XS-2 650; red and white..........original factory paint; very low mileage--8,758 original miles.  Mileage may go up a little bit from moving it around (rode it back to the garage after we took pictures).

This motorcycle runs great.  The electric start and kick start both work.  All lights and turn signals work.

I put this motorcycle on the road in 2009 and my wife rode it for one summer riding season here in New York state.

I am the second owner of this motorcycle.  I purchased it from the original owner in 2009.  He was 81 years old then.  I have the original certificate that the 1st owner was given by the dealership when it was purchased new.  He also gave us the period correct helmet and it goes with the motorcycle when it sells.  I think you will be hard pressed to find a vintage motorcycle running, in this condition, for the money.

The original Yamaha tools are in the tool bag under the seat. I put a new Interstate battery in it last year (2012). This bike has the luggage rack and front engine guard.

There are no tears, rips or cracks in the seat. The seat pan is in excellent condition (see photos). No leaks anywhere, gas or oil.

The original owner told us he took the gas tank off every winter and stored it in his house.  (see photo with gas cap open)

IF YOU ARE THE BUYER--there will be a $500 NON-REFUNDABLE downpayment that must be made through Pay Pal within 24 hours of end of auction. We spell this out because some people like to bid and then get buyer's remorse when they don't have enough money to pay. Balance must be received in the form of a bank check or cash upon pickup within 7 days of end of auction. We ask that you please provide us with a bank phone number adn contact person for your payment so we can verify this. Doing so allows us to release the bike to you sooner and help you with coordinating shipping/pickup. With the number of bad checks that we have seen or heard about, this is the best way to do this for both you and us. We would accept Pay Pal for the balance, but there is an additional 5% that must be added to the total to offset Pay Pal fees we would incur. We do not accept checks at pickup. We have had people try to pay with bad checks in person, so again, we must make this policy.

SHIPPING--we do not ship motorcycles! However, we will be happy to work with a shipper that you coordinate to arrange a time for pick up. Best time for pickup is 9 AM to 3 PM Monday through Friday. They will be more than welcome to call us to coordinate a time for pickup. Again, if you plan to pick the bike up yourself, you must do one of the following:  1) Pay for it at least 3 to 4 days IN ADVANCE with a bank check, or 2) Cash on the day of the pick up.

Please email us with any questions you may have. Thanks for your interest, happy bidding and good luck!

Tom Sykes has taken over the lead in the 2013 World Superbike Championship standings after splitting race victories with Chaz Davies at Germany’s Nurburgring circuit. Both races ended prematurely however with red flags during the final laps. Pata Honda‘s Jonathan Rea and FIXI Crescent Suzuki‘s Leon Camier both crashed on the 18th lap of Race One after running into oil spilled on the track from Pedercini Kawasaki racer Federico Sandi‘s ZX-10R.

Yamaha R25 250cc Sportbike Prototype Revealed – Video

Wed, 20 Nov 2013

After much anticipation, Yamaha has revealed its new R25 250cc sportbike at the 43rd annual Tokyo Motor Show in Japan. The manufacturer has long offered a 125cc model in India, and that’s where word surfaced of an impending 250cc model. We will have to wait a bit longer however, as the R25 at the Tokyo Motor Show is still just a prototype, meaning we should expect to see the production model for 2015.
