Yamaha V Star description

GET THIS GREAT BIKE IN TIME FOR CHRISTMAS! Okay so all your buddies are riding brand new Harleys and you are still sitting there whining and looking at that space in your garage where a motorcycle should be. You've convinced your wife (or husband) that a motorcycle is "safe"...hahahaha...and you've taken the motorcycle safety course at the local community college, you even went out and bought that brand new black leather jacket! So why haven't you got that brand new Harley yet? BECAUSE THEY COST $25,000.00!!! And while your wife (or husband) is understanding of your yearning to ride free, they aren't so keen on you spending $475.00 A MONTH on that payment for the NEXT 86 monthS along with the full coverage insurance that the bank requires...another $50.00 a month or so. So what is 1 to do? You can't keep up with your buddies on that old Honda Rebel, and besides it sounds like an old Waring blender going down the road. Well my friend, what I have here will fulfill all your motorcycling desires and your buddies on Harleys will actually think you have some street-cred. This is a 2010 Yamaha V Star 950. I am listing it for a friend of mine who is as anal retentive a person as I have ever met. What does that mean? Well it means she's going to give me hell about that comment, but more importantly it means she kept this bike just about perfect as they come! It is and always has been garaged kept. The oil has been changed regularly with synthetic oil and checked between changes. I know the owner and she is a responsible adult who has not dogged this bike. It was also not her 1st "big" bike, so the clutch and brakes and other systems have not suffered from a "learning curve". She bought it brand new in November 2010 from Star City Power Sports in Roanoke, VA. This is a bike you can ride and enjoy for the next 20yrs because at 15,736 mis it isn't even broken in good. Here are a list of some of the specs and features: Seat Height 26.6 in - nice and low! Weight with oil and fuel 657 pound...heavy enough for comfort but light enough it doesn't handle like a truck. Fuel capacity - 4.4 gallons; gets average of 47 miles-per-gallon...about a 200 mi range...unlike your friend's Sportster. Engine type - air cooled, 4-stroke SINGLE OVERHEAD CAM; V-type two cyl, 5-speed...no radiator or other unsightly systems. Mileage: 15,736...not even broken in yet...good grief! Garage kept, clean, fantastic condition - lots of TLC! Locking hard saddle bags, passenger back rest. All records, documents, paperwork come with the bike. CLEAN TITLE...no haggling or explaining or lying to your DMV about who, what, when, where, how. These are some of the extras that have been added or are included in the sale: Throttle lock chrome fender tips battery tender to keep battery charged during winter months saddle bag guards Engine guards chrome brake reservoir cover Official Yamaha Shop manual Upgraded horn to Chevy truck horn (for more volume) Genuine sheepskin seat cover (removable) So get that garage swept out this weekend and bid on the puppy! This bike is light enough to pull out of the garage to go pick up some beer for the picnic and it's heavy and comfortable enough to ride to Sturgis. The photos speak for themselves! And the best part is the price! This is a LOT of bike for the money. The NADA retail on this bike is over $8,000.00 and that is without the extras that have been added. This is a great bike with tons of power that a veteran biker will appreciate, but it is light enough and low enough that it won't overwhelm a relatively new rider. So I told my friend I could sell ice to Eskimos, so if this bike is still here next week I won't get an invite to her Christmas party...I WANT TO GO TO THAT PARTY SO BUY THIS BIKE!!! Check out my feedback. I have sold a 1948 Indian Chief, a '79 FXS Lowrider, a '37 Indian Scout, a 2005 Harley Deluxe Softail, a 2006 Harley FXD Superglide, a 1979 Triumph Bonneville Special and several other bikes. ALL of my buyers have been happy with their purchase because I only sell bikes that I would be proud to own. I have been riding for over 40 yrs and I would not hesitate for 1 moment to ride this bike from Virginia to California tomorrow. How long are you going to put off having that motorcycle you've dreamed of? If your dream is a $30,000.00 bagger from Milwaukee it may be quite some time; but if you want to own a high-end bike that you can ride the wheels off of for years to come, at a price that won't make it impossible for you to afford groceries...then buy this bike today. Stop dreaming and start riding! Some information on shipping, etc. No, we don't want to trade it for your 1963 Ford Falcon that "ran great when parked". No, we won't check how much it cost to ship it to Tahiti (A LOT!!!). No, we won't crate it, ship it, meet you somewhere out west, or otherwise have anything to do with shipping. Shipping is totally up to the buyer. I use Heritage Motorcycle Shipping exclusively. They are fair, prompt and do a great job. Good luck!

Magneti Marelli to Supply Electronics System to MotoGP Teams

Wed, 26 Sep 2012

It’s no secret that promoter Dorna Motorsports has been trying to push a standardized electronics control unit for teams in the MotoGP World Championship. The lack of a top-tier electronics package has been one of the biggest challenges faced by MotoGP’s claiming rule teams, and a spec ECU would narrow the gap between the CRT bikes and the factory prototypes. The manufacturers competing in the series, Honda, Ducati and Yamaha, understandably are resistant to the idea considering the effort they’ve put in to develop their electronics systems.

Pikes Peak 87th Annual International Hill Climb [pics and video]

Fri, 15 May 2009

Named after a man by the name of Zebulon Pike, an explorer who led an expedition to the area in 1806, Pikes Peak is home to the second oldest motorsports race in America second only to the Indianapolis 500. First completed in 1916, this year marks the 87th running of the “Race to the Clouds.” If the math doesn’t add up, this is because there were several years that the event did not run over the course of its 93 year history. The 12.4 mile trek up the mountain consists of 156 treacherous turns to an elevation of 14,110 feet.
