French Moto Website Anticipates Versys 1000 at EICMA 2011

Musings of a liter-size engined Kawasaki Versys have circulated the web for a few years now, as loyalists of the likable Versys 650, as well as displacement-driven riders waiting in the wings, have pondered the potential of a more powerful adventure bike from Kawasaki that’s in the same league as BMW’s R1200GS and Yamaha’s Super Tenere. Alas, nothing of the sort has ever left the lips of Kawasaki, let alone go into production. US Motorcycle Sales First Half 2011 Results

The U.S. motorcycle industry saw a 4.6% decrease in year-on-year sales over the first six months of 2011, thanks mostly to a 17.3% drop in ATV sales. Motorcycle and scooter sales however saw a 1.7% bump in the first half .

Yamaha Reveals PES1 and PED1 Electric Prototypes

Yamaha is bringing two new electric motorcycle prototypes to the upcoming Tokyo Motor Show: the PES1 streetbike and the PED1 dirt bike. The nomenclature is a combination of the initials for Passion, Electric and Street for the street version and Dirt for the off-road model. Both prototypes are equipped with DC brushless electric motors powered by lithium-ion batteries.
