A powerful, 124cc, 4-stroke powerplant provides a broad powerband for friendly off-road performance in a wide range of trail conditions. The smooth shifting, YZ-type 5-speed transmission with heavy-duty manual clutch is geared for maximum versatility and usable power delivery.

Effective immediately, teams using the official spec Magneti Marelli ECU hardware and software are exempt from having their engines claimed. Starting in the 2014 season however, the claiming rule will be cancelled completely.
