UP FOR SALE IS THIS BEAUTIFUL SILVER/BLUE/WHITE 1977 YAMAHA RD 400D TWO STROKE STREET BIKE. RECENTLY PURCHASED FROM PREVIOUS OWNWER WHO WAS 75 YEARS OLD. HE HAD OWNED IT SINCE THE EARLY 1980'S. HE DID NOT DRIVE IT VERY MUCH AND SWORE IT NEVER SAW RAIN. HE SOLD IT TO ME BECAUSE HE WAS MOVING TO FLORIDA AND HIS RIDING DAYS WERE OVER.  IT WAS STORED NICE AND DRY IN HIS FINISHED BASEMENT.  SITTING FOR OVER 5 YEARS. THOUGH HE TOLD ME IT WAS PUT AWAY RUNNING I KNEW IT WAS GOING TO NEED THE BASIC TUNE-UP MAINTNENCE. SO HERE IS A LIST OF NEW PARTS INSTALLED RECENTLY WITH ABOUT 1-5 MILES ON THEM:

  1. NEW TIRES FRONT AND REAR
  2. NEW BATTERY
  3. NEW YAMAHA POINTS AND CONDENSER TUNE UP KIT
  4. 2 NEW NGK-R PLUGS
  5. NEW FUEL LINE WITH NEW FILTERS
  6. OEM CARBURATORS COMPLETELY REBUILT WITH OEM JETS AND SETTINGS. NEW GASKETS

THIS RD400D STARTS 1-2 KICKS EVERYTIME AND IDLES PERFECTLY. ONE OF THE BEST LOOKING CAFE STYLE STREET BIKES OUT THERE IN MY OPINION. THE TANK IS ONE OF THE CLEANEST TANKS IVE SEEN FREE OF RUST AS SHOWN IN PHOTOS. ALL LIGHTS WORK. BRAKES WORK.CLUTCH WORKS AND SHIFTS THROUGH ALL 6 GEARS JUST FINE. LOTS OF POWER. VERY FAST. IT WAS UPGRADED WITH RARE RACING KONI SHOCKS IN THE REAR AS SHOWN IN PHOTOS. ALTHOUGH A UNABUSED TRUE SURVIVOR, SHES NOT A SHOW BIKE. THE BIKE HAS A FEW SMALL FLAWS BUT NOTHING SERIOUS. THE FOLLOWING LIST IS A LIST OF THE FLAWS:
  1. REAR BRAKES WORK BUT MASTER CYLINDER NEEDS SERVICING
  2. 2 SMALL DENTS AND ONE NICK IN PAINT ON TANK NOTHING SERIOUS AS SHOWN IN PHOTOS
  3. COULD USE FRONT FORK SEALS SOON
  4. HORN BUTTON IS MISSING.
  5. LIGHT SURFACE SCRATCHES AND RUST IN SOME AREAS BUT NO SERIOUS PITTING.
  6. REAR FENDER HAS SMALL DENT BOTTOM RIGHT CORNER
  7. LEFT FRONT DOG EAR(BLINKER BRACKET) SLIGHTLY BENT. CAN BE BENT BACK OR LEAVE AS IS. SEE PHOTOS HARDLY NOTICABLE.
THIS VINTAGE TWO STROKES EXHAUST IS FREE OF HOLES AND SOUNDS GREAT AND THE MOTOR REALLY IS JUST GETTING BROKEN IN WITH ONLY 5,000 ORIGINAL MILES. RIDE AS IS OR INVEST ALITTLE TIME AND HAVE A SHOW BIKE. PLEASE MAKE SURE TO SEE ALL PHOTOS AND WATCH THE 2 YOU TUBE VIDEOS I MADE OF THIS EXACT MOTORCYCLE RUNNING. ORGINAL KEY AND OWNERS MANUAL INCLUDED. PREVIOUS CT BILL OF SALE ONLY. NO TITLE. Day 11 Dakar 2014: Coma Wins, Extends Overall Lead

Thu, 16 Jan 2014

Day 11 marked the longest stage to date of the Dakar Rally, as the competitors tackled the 605km (376 miles) special stage, covering a variety of terrain, hard ground, mountains, plus 120km (75 miles) of sand and dunes in the Copiapo area. Despite this, and a fall at the beginning of the stage, Marc Coma again demonstrated his status as boss of the Dakar 2014, by picking up his third victory of the year, further reinforcing his position at the top of the general standings. Five-time Dakar winner Cyril Depres opened the piste for 400km before dropping slightly to finish just 02:31 behind Marc Coma in first.
