Yamaha Signed On As Presenting Sponsor For Three-Event GEICO Motorcycle Superbike Shootout

Yamaha Motor Corporation, U.S.A., is proud to announce that it has signed on as sponsor for the GEICO Motorcycle Superbike Shootout Presented By Yamaha, a three-event championship motorcycle road racing series that includes the Yamaha SoCal Nationals at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, CA on April 26-27; the Pacific Nationals at Sonoma Raceway in Sonoma, CA on May 3-4; and the Mountain Nationals at Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, UT on May 24-25. The announcement was made by Bob Starr, General Manager of National Communications for Yamaha’s Motorsports Group. Yamaha gave its YZ450F a major update for 2010 with its reversed engine layout so it should be no surprised the motocrosser received just a few updates for 2012. Besides the usual graphical updates, the 2012 Yamaha YZ450F receives a new exhaust system to meet 94dB competition requirements. Fuel injection settings have also been tweaked for smoother response at low to mid revs.

THE YAMAHA YZF-R1 ridden by nine-time motorcycle world champion Valentino Rossi at the 2009 TT has gone up for sale on eBay for £25,000.The 998cc 182bhp machine was ridden by Rossi when he lapped the Isle of Man TT course during a parade lap for Yamaha and Dainese in 2009. Authenticated by Yamaha Motors UK, this unique 181-mile machine has been signed by the multiple world champ and is being sold by Oldham-based Highbarn Motorcycles. Any takers?
