Yamaha Other description

1981 Yamaha SR185H Exciter. Runs well. Excellent commuter bike for work or school.
Currently owned by a parish priest in his mid-50's.

Odometer says 18K miles, but is inaccurate, as I replaced the instrument console after the original speedometer quit working at the same time the speedo cable broke. It actually has about 9K miles, or a bit less.  I got this as a barn find and fixed it up to ride myself.  I'm selling because I bought an older BMW R850R to ride instead so that I can ride long distances on the interstate..

Make an bid as I need to move it off the porch of the Parish House!

Has a LOT of totally new stuff:
>New dual-purpose tires & tubes
>New brakes front & Back
>New sprockets & chain (front sprocket changed from 14T to 16T for highway riding)
>New headlight bulb
>New stock-sized carburetor jets
>New speedometer cable
>New OEM seatcover
>New side covers, (one OEM, one aftermarket)
>Tank has been sealed with POR-15

Here's the not-so-great: Tank needs paint job and has a light dent on the left side. (See photos)   Fuel cap has surface pitting in the chrome. New side covers are blue, but the rest of the bike is red. Side covers could use new mounting grommets. Forks have surface rust up high on the tubes. Forks have very slight bend from my letting an idiot test ride it who rode it right into the back bumper of my truck, and then dropped the bike and got in his car and took off. (That's also why the price was reduced from the $995 asking price before). (New fork tubes from Forking by Frank are about $140, although these are very useable)

SO, if you intend to bid, please do not come to pick it up and expecting to take a test ride if you do not have a current driver's license WITH a motorcycle endorsement: that just won't happen. There also will be no test rides without the deposit being made.  I've learned my lesson on that one!

How to murder an HP2 Sport

Mon, 08 Oct 2012

Some bikes and cars should be left entirely stock; left unchanged from the way the factory intended them to be. In purchasing them you should understand that. I could produce a list of vehicles that should be taken off the owner if they modified them in any way but I'll save you the boredom.

Yamaha TCROSS. This was a TMAX

Wed, 06 Nov 2013

Great looking girl, crazy bike. This TCROSS started life as a T-Max but it was given to a former motorcycle designer and former MotoGP mecahanic to turn it into something unique as part of Yamaha's Hypermodified series. They've certainly managed to make it unique.
