Yamaha Other description

THIS IS A UNIQUE 74 YAMAHA RD 350. I WAS 18 IN 1974. I LOVED MOTORCYCLES BUT UNFORTUNATELY, I COULDN'T AFFORD MUCH. WHEN I WAS OLDER, I DECIDED I'D GET ONE AND TRICK IT OUT JUST LIKE THE GUYS DID BACK THEN. THIS IS WHAT I DID.

1.     BEFORE I RIDE ANY OLD BIKE, I PUT ON THE BEST MODERN TIRES AVAILABLE ($275)
2.     NEW SEAT COVER AND FOAM, AND HAD THE STAINLESS POLISHED ($200)
3.     DG PIPES ($325)
4.     CARRERA REAR SETS ($300+)
5.     AFTER TWO YEARS OF LOOKING, I ACTUALLY FOUND A SET OF SHEET METAL PAINTED IN 1974. IT IS JUST THE COOLEST 2-TONE METAL FLAKE WITH A FADE. THE PAINT HAS A COUPLE OF SCRATCHES OF THE
        TANK (400.00)
6.     I FINALLY FOUND A PERFECT NEW FRONT FENDER ($135)
7.     PREMIX
8.     FRONT FORKS REBUILT
9.     I WANTED SOME GOOD QUALITY SHOCKS. I TALKED TO THE ENGINEERS AT WORKS PERFORMANCE. THEY DESIGNED A SLIM LINE SET PERIOD CORRECT AS POSSIBLE. THEY POWDER COATED THEM IN ALL
BLACK AS OPPOSED TO THE NORMAL CHROME ($425. OUCH)

LASTLY, THE ODOMETER ON THE MOTORCYCLE WAS NOT CORRECT WHEN  I PURCHASED THE MOTORCYCLE. WHEN I BOUGHT IT, THE READING WAS 5,000 MILES AND IT WAS NOT WORKING. I FOUND A VERY NICE USED ONE ON EBAY.

WELL, I HOPE MY BABY FINDS A GOOD HOME. I REALLY DON'T WANT TO PART IT OUT IT BUT I WILL IF IT DOESN'T SELL FOR A FAIR PRICE.

This Is How You Ride A 125cc Two-Stroke + Video

Fri, 09 May 2014

It’s too bad two-stroke motorcycles are quickly declining. The lightweight and hard-hitting machines are a blast to ride. They’re all but gone from the street scene (thanks emission laws), but thankfully you can still find some on the dirt side.

Back in the day, the All Japan 500cc Championship at Tsukuba

Fri, 24 Jun 2011

This ‘you tube’ gem sent to me recently brought back some funny memories from the scary but incredibly exciting days of 500cc two stroke racing. This particular race was the final round of the All Japan 500cc Championship at Tsukuba Circuit where I enjoyed a head to head battle with national hero Tadahiko Taira. Yamaha’s favourite son at the time, ‘tie wrap’ as we liked to call him, was taller and better looking than most Japanese riders (maybe a war baby?) and went on to win nearly everything in Japan during his career.
