Vintage 1968 Yamaha DT1 250cc 2 Stroke

Here we have for sale a vintage 1968 Yamaha DT1 250cc 2 stroke dual sport motorcycle. This is a very cool bike, it is the first year of the DT1. Pretty hard to find bikes these days. My dad made his DT1 into a dirt bike, just like this one was. It was converted with the turn signals, headlight, gauges, and ignition switch being removed. However, I have a spare parts bike that comes with the bike that has a lot of parts with it to put this bike back to stock. The bike is not running at this time, it does kick over and I sprayed some starting fluid in the carburetor and it did momentarily fire. So there is spark and it will run, I can't not guarantee it though because I haven't actually heard it run and drive. Not sure what exactly is original or not, the gas tank and fenders were restored. The gas tank is nice. The paint is nice on the tank and fenders. There is some yellowing on the tank where I assume gas got onto it. The original seat is in rough shape and will need to be reupholstered. The cables are in good shape. The front tire is nice and the old Dunlop on the rear is cracked. There is pitting and checking on the chrome. The chrome on this bike, like the handlebars, shocks, where painted silver with a crinkle finish, same with the silver on the engine. There is some rust on the inside of the gas tank. The side oil tank cover is repainted but isn't hooked up so I assume that the oil pump was bipassed and you have to mix the fuel now. The black paint is in okay shape, it appears to have been painted at one time over old paint. The exhaust has been primer painted and the original guard is there but has two cracks in it. There is a weld near the serial number on the engine. You can still read the last part of the engine numbers though. This is a good quality driver bike. It was amateur restored a long time ago and has been sitting for a long time. I do not have a title for the bike. I will provide a bill of sale for both bikes. Overall, this is a good bike to restore or just get running and use as a cool vintage dirt bike. Please do your research on this bike before bidding. I don't know much about these Yamahas, I am trying to describe this bike to the best of my abilities. Please do your research because I am just not too familiar with these bikes as others are. I can recommend J&M Transport for shipping, they are a motorcycle shipper who do exceptionally good work and customer service. Contact me for their contact info and I'll forward it to you. I accept cahs, check, or money order as forms of payment. Please ask any and all questions that you may have. Thanks for looking!

Earlier this month, we reported on the partnership between Yamaha and Movistar that would place the Spanish telecommunications company as title sponsor for the Yamaha MotoGP team for the next five years. The deal came at the eleventh hour, as contract negotiations and minor details needed to be sorted. Now, just days before the start of the 2014 season at the Grand Prix of Qatar, Yamaha has revealed its official 2014 MotoGP livery.
