Yamaha FZR1000 tech info
Yamaha FZR1000 description
1992 fzr1000 with only 18047 miles which has been properly stored its whole life. Numbers matching and all stock except for the Carbon-Tec slip on muffler and Dynojet stage 1 jet kit.
Starts easily, runs and shifts properly. Was originally purchased in Arizona and had 2 owners over 20 years in that state making me the 3rd owner. This is an excellent well cared for and properly maintained example of an iconic original super bike. Mechanical-electrical *chain and sprockets new @ 17k *carbs ultrasonicly cleaned-synched-with new intake boots @17k *fork seals and oil replaced @17k *michelin pilot tires with about 1200 miles on them *upper radiator hose/thermostat/coolant replaced this summer with oe Yamaha parts. The original hose had a very small leak. Runs at proper temp.with no leaks. *all guages, signals, switches, horn etc...in original untouched condition and work properly *Carbon Tec exhaust added by previous owner with original headers and EXUP intact. Cosmetic- *paint shines almost like new-no dents in gas tank *original seat in excellent shape *fairings in great shape-left side panel has tiny chip missing-see pic-graphics are good to excellent-right lower graphics show minor wear for 25 year old bike. *seat cowl was not original to bike. I searched for 2 years to find a good one. Its color matched perfect with a painted stripe(original is a decal) tail housing and stripe was also repainted at this time. Looks great. Cowl cost me 275 plus 300 for paint! *handlebar switches-gauges have no fading *rear wheel has misc scratches that appear to have happened when tire was put on-grrrrrrr!!! This has been a fair weather bike rode around 750 miles a year to my knowledge. It has incredible power easily lifts the front tire and is not for an inexperienced rider. Suspension is tight with no noises. Just a wonderful example of a high end rider/collector bike with (my opinion) the best best color combo. Owners and service manual included with purchase as well as original tool kit and tender lead. Had a lot of fun with this bike. It is priced right to pass on to next collector/owner. I will mention again that this bike is ready to ride and is not need of servicing as many of these different bikes that are for sale on ebay that look good but...fzr1000s can be expensive to get dialed in. Shipping is sole responsibility of buyer. I will assist your shipper. Down payment of 500 via Pay-Pal due within 24 hoursa of auction close. Cashiers check, bank wire prefered payment |

I can die happy!
Wed, 04 Sep 2013As an eighteen year old Kenny Roberts was my bike racing God. I loved Barry Sheene but as a Yamaha FS1E rider I always wanted the little American to win simply because his bike resembled mine. The coverage of Grand Prix in the late seventies was sketchy but I clearly remember watching the epic Sheene/Roberts battle unfold at the Silverstone GP on my council estate telly. The Dutchman, Wil Hartog was hanging in there for a while but as the laps unfolded it became a two way battle with Sheene looking favourite to win. Sheene lost the most time as the pair lapped a certain George Fogarty so my hero Roberts eventually won by just three hundredths of a second. I’m not sure what happened next but being a Sunday we would no doubt be skidding around later in the day at the Pines chippie pretending to be Roberts and Sheene. Fast forward thirty four years and a boyhood fantasy came true as I headed out on Chris Wilson’s 1980 Roberts machine for the Barry Sheene tribute laps at last weekend’s Moto GP. It crackled into life instantly and felt as sharp as any of the more modern 500s I used to race. The temperature gauge had a maximum marker on 60 degrees so to begin with I was nervous as it didn’t move but being a hot day (although still keeping my hand on the clutch) I convinced myself it wasn’t working. The bike felt tiny, not helped by the fact I only just squeezed into my 1989 Marlboro Yamaha leathers. It still felt rapid though as I played out the 1979 classic in my head while getting tucked in down the Hanger straight. Steve Parrish was also out there on one of Barry’s 500cc Heron Suzukis so we did our best to copy the famous last lap at Woodcote Corner where Sheene came so close to winning his home GP. As a lad I would have said the chances of me riding round Silverstone on a GP winning Kenny Roberts machine were zero, but in the words of Gabrielle, dreams can come true!
