Yamaha FJR description

For sale is a 2004 Yamaha FJR 1300A with 50,000 miles.  This particular model has ABS.  This bike runs beautifully!

I have owned for 7 years and performed every bit of maintenance I could think of to insure it is a very reliable machine.  Every 2 years I changed brake and clutch fluid, cleaned and greased every suspension and lever pivot point.  Oil change was using Mobil 1 4stroke Synthetic every year or 5000 miles.   The rear shock is a Wilburs re-buildable unit, front forks have upgraded progressive springs and higher quality fork oil.

Aftermarket Options/changes for this machine include auxiliary Lights, Wilburs rear shock, progressive springs.  For cooler and wet weather the bike includes larger windscreen (stock included) , hand guards and European foot guards that can all be removed for summer.  I had the wheels powder coated black, it has heated hand grips and the auxiliary shelf above the dash.  The seat has been reshaped and high quality foam installed by a professional upholster.  At one time I tipped the bike over so had the saddle bags, foot guards and rear rack painted with LineX paint (anti scuffing paint) – which I think looks neat and makes the bike stand out.  The bike has White Brothers carbon mufflers that have a nice burble to them – I also have the stock mufflers if you want to go that route.

So what’s wrong?  The tires are mostly worn, there are a very few scuffs from normal wear, my boots have left a nice patina where they come into contact with the guards in that area.  There is a touch of rust at the fuel tank filler neck – I repainted the inside of the neck a few years ago – but some rust bleed onto the tank surface though you can’t easily see it.

Comes with Owners Manual, previous title documentation, Service Manual (paper and CD), aftermarket Mirors with a longer stem (not on bike now).

If you think the riding season is over now that "summer" is over, with this bike you need to re-think that.  I have easily ridden into December (in Wisconsin) with this setup.  The bike has foot guards and hand guards and a large windscreen (larger than stock) that keep the wind off of you.  It also has heated hand grips to keep you hands warm.  If you use the buy-it now price, I will include a Gerbings heated jacket, heated gloves, and duel controller for free!

GSX-R600 and CBR250R the glass is half full

Wed, 13 Oct 2010

Suzuki’s GSX-R600 might not look that much different to the outgoing model but I suspect this bike could be very much a dark horse in 2011. I say this because two years ago I was definitely not building my hopes up en route to the K9 GSXR 1000 launch. The leaked pictures suggested the biggest change from the 2007 version would be some fresh graphics but I was so wrong.  As it turned out, I was greeted in Almeria with a brand new bike, built from the tarmac up and it proved to be more than a match in every department for the much hyped 2009 Yamaha R1.

A crazy traveler on a Yamaha R1 will go to the North Pole

Lucassen is a man who can be surely called a maniac. He has been traveling for a long time. In 1995, he went on a three-year round-the-world route on a Honda Fireblade and covered over 160 thousand kilometers, and in 2001 he started on a Yamaha YZF-R1 and traveled about 250 thousand kilometers in five years.
