Yamaha FJR description
2003 Yamaha FJR1300, Sweet FJR1300! Recent Avon tires, battery, etc. Added HOT grips, rear rack, throttle cruise. w - The Perfect Pairing of Power, Performance and Pampering. Once upon a time, attempts at melding super sport performance with long-distance luxury usually meant winding up with too much of one trapping - and too little of the other. Heavy doses of sportbike-like manners often dictated minimal long-haul comfort. And if the scales were tilted too much toward the touring side, well, you get the idea. But that was then... and this is now. Enter the all-new FJR1300, and with it an all-new class of machine: the super sport tourer, where open-class sportbike power and chassis performance meets the luxurious comfort levels normally reserved for touring machines. Powered by a new-design 1298cc, liquid-cooled in-line four with electronic fuel injection, the FJRs as smooth a runner as it is potent (to the tune of 145 horsepower!), thanks to dual balancers, a hydraulic clutch, scissor-type primary gears to reduce gear noise, and shaft final drive. Handling, too, is a seamless blend of sportbike agility and plush, dawn-till-dusk comfort, courtesy of an all-new, extra-strong (but lightweight) cast aluminum frame and swingarm, fully adjustable 48mm forks and a rear shock with two-stage preload settings for solo and two-up riding. Now... top it off with touring touches like an adjustable windshield, hard saddlebags, super-comfortable dual seat and large-capacity fuel tank. The all-new FJR1300. Welcome to the world of super sport touring. Available in August, 2002.

My Cadburys Boost YZF 750 comes back to life.
Sat, 01 Sep 2012After winning my 3rd BSB title in 1998, as an end of season bonus, Yamaha UK kindly handed over my beloved Cadburys Boost YZF 750. There were three of these ex factory bikes in Rob Mac’s team; one went to me, the big man still has one, and the third was sold for a sum that was never disclosed. I had three cracking years on this special machine battling against team mates Whitham, Walker and Hislop and breaking most lap records along the way. The hard charging Bayliss, Reynolds and Rymer were also thrown into the mix on occasions just to make life even more interesting.
The Diavel rocks!
Thu, 21 Jul 2011The Diavel is my new bike of the year. Not being a huge Ducati fan, when I was thrown the keys of this monster at Silverstone on Tuesday I was expecting an ill handling, weighty beast that would run out of revs and scare me to death. Well I couldn’t have been more wrong as I had an absolute blast.
2014 HRC Dakar Team Announced
Thu, 30 May 2013Today at Mugello, ahead of this weekend’s MotoGP race at the famous Italian racetrack, Team HRC unveiled its 2014 Dakar team and motorcycle. Interestingly, one person many thought could be a Red Rider this year after leaving KTM, Cyril Despres, will not be riding a Honda next year, instead joining Yamaha’s Dakar effort. However, HRC’s team still features five accomplished riders: Helder Rodrigues (Portugal), Sam Sunderland (UK), Javier Pizzolito (Argentina), Joan Barreda (Spain) and Paulo Goncalves (Portugal), all of whom will be competing on the CRF450 Rally.
