Antique Vintage Catholic Medal / Charm ST. CATHERINE LABOURE and ST. VINCENT de PAUL

The medal features a picture of St. Catherine Laboure on 1 side and St. Vincent de Paul on the other side.

St. Catherine Laboure received a vision in which St. Vincent de Paul told her that God wished her to work among the sick. She then joined the Sisters of Charity. In 1830 Our Blessed Mother appeared to her and asked her to make and spread devotion to the Miraculous medal. St. Catherine's body is incorrupt.

St. Vincent de Paul was Parish Priest near Paris, and worked tirelessly for the sick, poor and abandoned. He is invoked as the patron Saint of charitable work, hospitals and hospital workers. His body is also incorrupt.

I would guess that its from about the 1950's or 1960's.  Medals similar to these are being duplicated, but this is an original vintage one. You can tell by the extra heavy-duty bail, and the weight, detail and quality that is so much better than the new ones. It was made in Italy.

It measures 18x25mm or about 1" tall. I photographed both sides so that you can see the quality and details.

The metal is silver finish. It has a heavy duty bail for attaching to a chain, charm bracelet or favorite rosary.

It is in good condition. It has a beautiful old patina.

Behind the “Bathing Suit” Picture

Fri, 09 Jan 2009

Few motorcycle photographs are as iconic as that of the famous Bonneville “Bathing Suit Picture.” While you have undoubtedly seen this image before, you may not know the story behind it. The scantily clad and debatably crazy rider was a man by the name of Roland “Rollie” Free. The bike, often thought by many to be a Vincent Black Shadow, was in fact a Black Lightning – the fastest Vincent ever to see production.
