Vincent All description

Rare first edition of this book from the Master Draughtsman Series published in 1961.

The front cover has the drawing “Man Supporting Reclining Woman” instead of “Arab on Horseback”. The Vincent Price credit is “By” rather than “Introduction by”. The back cover is completely different from the 1966 “first edition” version.

This soft cover book is 9” x 12”. There are 51 drawings on the 48 interior pages.

Condition is very good for its age; the staple binding is tight, and the cover spine is good. There is a coffee ring on the front cover, and a slight stain on the back cover. The corners are slightly bumped, and there is just a touch of yellowing of the pages. None of these things greatly detracts from the beauty of the artwork, or the enjoyment of viewing it.

See photos as part of description and item condition. The photos are scans of the actual book for accuracy. They are slightly cropped due to the large format of the book...

Wed, 23 Jul 2014

“Built for Speed – Race Inspired Motorcycles and Art” is the title of Michael Lichter’s 14th annual “Motorcycles as Art” exhibition in Sturgis this August, which for the second year in a row, will be jointly curated by Michael and Paul d’Orleans of the Vintagent. ‘Built for Speed’ is sure to impress visitors with a beautiful and thought-provoking display of motorcycles and related art, the race-inspired theme making connections between motorcycle racing and custom bike designs inspired by racers. Each custom bike in ‘Built for Speed’ reflects a branch of racing; Speedway, Flat Track, Drag Racing, Board Track,  Grand Prix, Land Speed Record, and will be displayed beside the racing machines suggesting the origins of each style.
