There’s a whole story behind this band, because leader MORTEN HOLM PETTERSEN once was a sprinter who wanted to become one of the best Norwegian athletics, but when he went to Portugal for a trainingcamp he got poisoned through food and his whole life dramatically changed. For over 13 years Morton stayed in bed with fever, cold and many other complications. During that period he began writing songs and the result was a band that recorded all his songs. MTM gladly decided to release the CD and so here it is, the first CD of MORTON HOLM’s ‘Open up’. The music on the CD is soft Westcoast/AOR/Poprock in the style of RICHARD MARX, RICK CUA, KYLE VINCENT, JOHN TAGLIERI... It’s very soft at times, and 80s inspired, radio-ready fun summer poprock/pop/westcoast like a calmer version of NELSON. The first 2 songs are interesting for the AOR fans, the uptempo “Dreams” and the midtempo “A joyful day”. Unfortunately the rest of the CD is too Pop orientated to be featured here, such as the PLAYER/EAGLES/AMERICA type of tunes “Anxious mind”, “Where are you summetime?” and “No hard feelings”. It’s nice to see this release, because it will inspire many people who also suffer from long-term illness, and it will give Morten himself something to be proud of. However, the music is not really interesting for the AOR/Melodic Rockfans, but if you like Westcoast/Pop you will love this!

The World Endurance Championship Starts This Weekend

Wed, 23 Apr 2014

Endurance racing is perhaps the ultimate test of both man and machine. In the past, teams would pace themselves in order to rest both elements enough to make a final push at the end. These days, however, motorcycles are more reliable than ever, and riders train like triathletes.

Behind the “Bathing Suit” Picture

Fri, 09 Jan 2009

Few motorcycle photographs are as iconic as that of the famous Bonneville “Bathing Suit Picture.” While you have undoubtedly seen this image before, you may not know the story behind it. The scantily clad and debatably crazy rider was a man by the name of Roland “Rollie” Free. The bike, often thought by many to be a Vincent Black Shadow, was in fact a Black Lightning – the fastest Vincent ever to see production.
