Vincent All description
This wedding gown, an ALFRED ANGELO Original, was designed by Edythe Vincent and is probably from the 1960's or 1970's. It is semi-sheer ivory chiffon? (or organza? or ??) with a sheer golden yellow ruffle trim at the wrists and hem. The dress features beautiful applique, covered buttons, and detachable train. The semi-sheer fabric of the skirt portion covers a layer of white netting over a stiff under fabric. The arms and bodice are two layers of sheer fabric (chiffon? or organza? or?), the under layer more sheer and the outside layer with a satiny finish. The dress has a back zipper hidden under a row 29 satin covered buttons which match the ones at the wrists. The applique is layered and intricate across the chest, back and waist. Single rows of the daisy like flower are used for trim around the neck and yellow ruffle. A single one runs down each sleeve to a wreath-like applique design; 3 run down the front of the gown and 2 in the back to a wreath-like applique. The pictures appear whiter and lighter than the dress. This smaller size dress is not marked for size, but measures close to a SIZE 6. My approximate measurements of the dress laying flat: 15" shoulder to shoulder, 15 1/2" armpit to armpit, 13 1/2" across at empire waist, 54" back, 42" empire waist to hem, and 22" sleeves. It is nice vintage condition; it has dirt around the neckline, and the bodice and sleeves seem a bit dirty or yellowed - the train is slightly whiter than the dress. Video: 180bhp N2O injected Vincent
Tue, 21 Feb 2012The Greek God Epithemeus - the name of this three-wheeled, 180bhp Vincent record breaker - was the brother of Prometheus. Epithemeus (meaning afterthought) was the creator of many dangerous, ill thought-out beasts. Unlike his dilligent brother, Epithemeus was a bit of a f**kwit who threw everything at his powerful new animal creations with little thought of the consequences. A perfect name, then.
