Item : 122 Yr Old Vanity Fair Litho Titled "AS PROCUREUR GENERAL" which translated means "PUBLIC PROSECUTOR" Age : c.1893 Litho By : Vincent Brooks, Day & Son Ltd.; London, UK Artist : Jean Baptiste Guth Condition : Good Dimensions : Frame 14"x19 1/2" Litho 16"x10" Notes : This antique lithograph is in nice condition. It was found at an estate sale as is. The print itself appears to have four very, very small brown spots along the top edge beneath the matting and three at the bottom corner by Guth's signature. The matting and frame itself are not in the best of condition. Please examine photos for condition. BOOKMARK: In the 1890's Jean Baptist Guth was one of an international group of artists who worked for Vanity Fair magazine. He created caricatures of many of the leading "characters" of the day. He signed his work "GUTH". Vincent Brooks, Day & Son was a major British lithographic firm most widely known for reproducing the weekly caricatures published in Vanity Fair magazine. The company was formed in 1867 when Vincent Brooks bought the name, good will and some of the property of Day & Son Ltd, which had gone into liquidation that year. The firm reproduced artwork and illustrations and went on to print many of the iconic London Underground posters of the twenties and thirties before being wound up in 1940. |

Bonhams Las Vegas Motorcycle Auction Rakes In $1.8 Million
Mon, 16 Jan 2012A collection of classic motorcycles including some owned by the Du Pont family was auctioned by Bonhams in Las Vegas, with sales reaching $1.8 million, nearly double the pre-auction estimates. The auction included 50 motorcycles and 113 lots of spare parts from the Du Pont family including some from the personal collection of E. Paul du Pont, founder of Du Pont Motors and one-time president of Indian Motorcycles.
