Intermot 2012: 2013 Triumph Street Triple, Street Triple R Revealed

Triumph has redesigned its Street Triple for 2013, revealing the updated 675cc naked bikes at the 2012 Intermot show in Cologne, Germany. 2013 Triumph Street Triple and the slightly more up-spec Street Triple R receive an all-new chassis featuring aluminum beam twin-spar frames and two-piece die-cast rear subframes. According to Triumph, the new chassis optimizes agility and handling with fewer welds than the previous frame and helping reduce the overall wet weight by 13 pounds to 403 pounds.

MSF Begins Year-long Real World Motorcycle Safety Study

The Motorcycle Safety Foundation has started what it calls the first-ever naturalistic study of motorcycling, with 100 motorcycles equipped with data logging equipment to record real-world riding situations over the course of a year. Triumph is set to reveal some new updates to its Tiger 800 including a number of different versions making it either more highway or more off-road oriented. The both the Tiger 800XC and the less adventure-worthy Tiger 800 will see two new variants, with the Tiger 800 likely being rebranded as the Tiger 800XR. A newly-published executive order from the California Air Resources Board reveals the names for four new Tiger 800 variants known as the XCA (likely standing for XC Adventure), XCX, XRT (or XR Touring) and XRX.
