Triumph Bonneville description

For sale is a 1979 Triumph T140 D Limited Edition 750 Bonneville Special

The “D” stands for Daytona, where the model was conceived.  It is all numbers matching with 6,215 miles, and will go up as bike is ridden frequently.  It has Lester cast wheels with newer tires, siamese 2 into 1 special exhaust that is beautifully tuned, external oil filter that is a great addition for the longevity of any Triumph, a strutless front fender that is unique to the model, and a Boyer Bransden ignition.  The paint is worn thin and has some blemishes; but the bike is mechanically sound, runs great, and everything works well.  It is an excellent rider.

Selling for a friend who travels a lot and wants to sell his collection.

The bike is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction at any time.

The buyer is responsible for all shipping arrangements and costs.

Thanks for looking…

What’s Old Is New Again – Video

Mon, 14 Oct 2013

There’s something distinctly cool about old British motorcycles. From the wire wheels, the minimal bodywork, and the exposed engines which give off a thunderous bark, I’ve always loved looking at old Triumphs, BSAs and the like from the 60s.  I’ve never owned one though. The reason is simple: old British bikes are needy little maintenance machines notorious for the odd oil leak.

Riding round the north of Scotland

Mon, 20 Aug 2012

I’m ashamed to say that until last week, I had no idea what incredible roads and scenery the North West of Scotland had to offer. Starting at Helensburgh just west of Glasgow, ten of us (including ex racers Duffus, MacPherson, Morrison and Simpson,) rode 600 miles round the coast then back down to Inverness. On mostly empty but immaculate roads we lost count of the mountains, lochs and sandy beaches along the way.

Church of MO: 2012 Triumph Scrambler Review

Sun, 13 Nov 2022

Now it’s the Triumph Street Scrambler, but 10 years ago it was the Triumph only Scrambler, and it was time to open fire with the Steve McQueen marketing machine. Seems to have worked, really, and Triumph has seen fit since then to update the base Scrambler with a bigger new liquid-cooled Twin that still looks vintage. And its pair of bigger Scrambler 1200s, XE and XC, are truly sublime motorcycles we’d ride anywhere.
