Triumph Bonneville description

RESTORATION CYCLE WORKS

This is an opportunity to purchase a very special 1969 Triumph Bonneville T120R, restored by some of the most capable & renown experts in the field.

This bike was restored in 2011 by Baxter Cycle in Iowa, and purchased by us at auction. Randy Baxter's team carried out a superb nut-and-bolt restoration, and brought this exceptional numbers-matching machine back to life.  The list of new parts and components is exhaustive.  The engine runs perfectly, compression is great, exhaust note is throaty - everything you would want and expect in a '69 Bonneville of this caliber.

We brought the bike to Don Hutchinson Cycle in Wakefield in 2012, where it underwent further restoration.  The bike was tuned, and a multitude of fasteners and other miscellaneous parts were swapped out for factory-correct components, including the following...

- Cad-plated unified thread period-correct nuts and bolts throughout, including shock spring caps
- Original Amal chrome levers & choke, including newly plated brackets with correct foundry marks
- NOS double crossover pipe clamps with 8 ultra-rare d-shaped washers
- Twin Clear Hooter "hockey puck" horns
- Dunlop rim locks - not reproductions
- Original "window type" Lucas ammeter
- Correct waterslide decals, John Bull & alloy cable ties
- Made in UK Chrome exhaust & Wassell mufflers
- Proper Gran Turismo grips

We took this restoration one step further.  In 1969, there were three paint schemes applied to the Bonneville.  Based on the serial numbers of known original examples in the Hutchinson Cycle archives, we were able to definitively determine that this bike left the factory with the single Silver Sheen scallop over Olympic Flame you see in the photos.

We sourced a NOS fuel tank and set of fenders - not reproductions - which were painted by the team at Hutchinson Cycle.  Don Hutchinson Cycle is the leading expert on Triumph paint, both in terms of color, placement, and pin striping.  Their work is unsurpassed, and the glossy flawless finish on this fine machine is simply stunning.

There are many Triumph restorations out there.  There are very, very few of this quality, caliber, correctness, and provenance.  If you seek the best of the best - whether you value concours trophies, or just winding through your local back roads - this is your opportunity.

International bidders please contact me prior to bidding.  Any and all questions are welcomed and encouraged.  $500 deposit due within 48 hours of auction end.  Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer, although we can certainly provide recommendations.

Thanks for looking.
