Triumph Bonneville description

1967 Triumph Bonneville , 1967 Triumph Bonneville 650 cc UK Edition A unique opportunity to acquire a rare UK-spec classic. The current owner originally purchased this example in 1986 in the UK. It was restored and ridden & exhibited in various UK shows. In 1997 the owner emigrated to the US, bringing the motorcycle with him. It was then fully and professionally restored by Bill Hoard, of Midland MI in 2007 this rebuild entailed a complete strip-down of engine and cycle parts. The engine was blueprinted and balanced, frame powder-coated, tank and mudguards etc. painted and parts replaced as necessary. The engine and frame numbers match (DU66088) and all parts are authentic with one exception, electronic ignition (those familiar with Lucas 4CA contact breakers will sympathize!) The Certificate of Authenticity indicates this example was manufactured at the Meriden factory on June 6th 1967. The major differences between the UK and US spec models are - Fuel tank top parcel grid - 5 gall (US) fuel tank - No pancake carb air filters - Adjustable steering damper - 3.0 x 19 front tire - 3.5 x 19 rear tire - Painted mudguards. - Longer mufflers - Lower handlebars Factory-fitted extras - Quickly detachable rear wheel - Pillion footrests - Side stand - Fork steering lock In February 1967, the Motor Cycle magazine published a road test of this model the article is enclosed. note the front mudguard tag banned soon after! Since the recent rebuild, the Bonneville has been ridden for approx. 750 miles. The owner has come to terms with selling this valuable asset after 27 years. The valuation in 2007 was $15,000+. Offers considered. $14,999.00
