Triumph Bonneville description
First, this is NOT a 1964 Triumph. Had to list this way as the bike has a 1964 main frame. It is NOT a numbers matching bike, so if that is what you want, hit the back button.
BASICS 1964 main frame 1969-70 front end 1972 650, 5 speed motor sub frame, mid/late 60’s Has a 1964 center stand ( hard to find, took three tries to get the right one)
Frame was powder coated in a rough finish silver, to look somewhat like sandblasted alloy.
Seat pan, chain guard, battery box, center stand, fork headlight ears, powder coated in smooth high silver.
Lower fork legs, front brake plate, triple tree, dog bone risers, headlight rim, motor mounts, rear peg mounts were powder coated in candy blue over high silver.
NEW front forks NEW seal holders, seals gaskets, etc. NEW rubber gaiters NEW stainless steel gaiter bands NEW front tire, Avon Speedmaster, on Radaelli rim with stainless steel spokes. Loose head bearings replaced with a set of Timken tapered roller bearings. NEW headlight with H4 Halogen bulb. NEW made in the UK cloth covered wiring harness
Triumph horn switch with hi/low head light switch REAL Tomaselli brake and clutch levers, NOT repops Triumph throttle. All NEW cables
NEW HAGON rear shocks NEW drive chain ( can’t remember, either DID or Reynolds)
NEW Battery NEW seat foam NEW grey top seat cover, from the UK
New 1965 rear license plate holder and tail lamp
The tank is a 1964-65. it was perfect absolutely no rust or bondo. It was sitting on a high shelf after painting and was accidentally knocked off, resulting in a small dent at the very tip of the front. Can’t see it when on the bike.
NEW tank rack NEW tank rubbers and mounting plates. NEW repop “Garden Gate” badges Most of the nuts and bolts are chrome plated
High, desert style tucked in exhaust with chrome mufflers. The mufflers have baffling but are a little loud ( in a good way, sound great). Speedometer and tach rebuilt/refurbished to better than new by Nisonger Instruments of New York
MOTOR and TRANSMISSION The motor and trans were completely disassembled. Gears, etc were checked for wear and found to be good. Cases cleaned and some polishing to remove most factory machine marks. The engine was re-assembled with ALL NEW bearings, bushes, gaskets and seals. The crankshaft oil tube/filter (sludge trap)was replaced. Cylinders were bored .060 over. NEW UK made pistons, rings, gudgeon pins, and small end bushings. NEW push rods and seals.
Bike was originally a Bonneville. I switched to a single carb head (1966 or 67). The head was completely cleaned, the domes polished. The head was then rebuilt with Kibblewhite/Precision Engineering bronze valve guides, valve springs, valves, retainers, etc. Over $330 for the parts. Rocker covers rebuilt with mushroom tappets.
Completely NEW clutch assembly and primary drive. NEW primary sprocket, NEW primary drive chain. NEW clutch basket, NEW steel and fiber plates ( I think they were Barnett), NEW Barnett clutch springs and nuts. Aftermarket alloy pressure plate.
NEW Sparks 210 watt, 3 phase, rotor and stator for plenty of juice for accessories like heated gloves or vest. Boyer-Bransden electronic ignition with NEW 6 volt coils and correct plug wires Amal 930 carb was cleaned and rebuilt. With round air filter. The previous owner put earlier style side cases on the motor, and had them chromed. The chrome is good, some pitting, no peeling.
The paint is good for a driver but not show quality. The gold on the tank and the stripes on the fenders are 24k gold leaf.
The fenders have some small dings. I should have skimmed them but got a little lazy at the end.
This bike only has about 40 miles since the rebuild. It runs great. To start I kick it over a couple times with the key off, loosens the clutch if it sat too long. Then I tickle it. Usually starts on first or second kick.
Motor is very strong, and runs smooth. It SHOULD BE treated as a new bike and broken in like such, with re-torking head bolts and oil change after a couple hundred miles. I am sure I have forgotten to mention some things(parts like small springs for center stand and side stand, nuts and bolts, etc.)

Triumph to celebrate 20th anniversary
Mon, 22 Mar 2010TRIUMPH is celebrating its 20th anniversary since the relaunch of the brand, which takes place on Saturday September 18th at the Mallory Park race circuit in Leicestershire.A full programme of on and off track activities will be laid on, with on track activities including a round of the ‘Triumph Triple Challenge’, special invitation races featuring Triumph’s class-leading Street Triple and Daytona 675 motorcycles, plus shows from Triumph’s professional stunt riders. Off-track, visitors will be able to view the latest range of Triumph motorcycles, together with a selection of some of the UK’s best customised Triumphs. Key bikes from Triumph’s history will also be on display, as part of a unique exhibition exploring 20 years of Hinckley. On top of this, there will be a host of opportunities for visitors to ride the latest line up of bikes from Triumph’s demonstration fleet, both on and off track, along with many other riding activities for visitors to enjoy. Triumph’s factory, situated eight miles from Mallory Park, will be open for event visitors to take a tour of the facility. The company has also promised a few exclusive surprises for fans making the trip to this special event and the party will carry on late into the night, with a full programme of live music planned.
Estate of Gary Nixon Up For Auction June 16, 2012
Thu, 24 May 2012The estate of legendary motorcycle racer and all around fun guy, Gary Nixon, will go on auction June 16,2012, in York, PA. Nixon passed in August, 2011, while recovering from heart surgery. A two-time AMA Grand National Champion (1967 – ’68), Nixon was an accomplished flattrack and road racer. He was inducted into the Motorcycle Hall of Fame in 1998.
2013 LA Calendar Motorcycle Show Report
Mon, 22 Jul 2013The 22nd edition of the annual LA Calendar Motorcycle Show marked its return to the Queen Mary Seawalk Village in Long Beach, California with hometown boy Sam Baldi taking the Bike Building Championship’s Best of Show trophy with a Jimmy Todorovith/Profile Cycles built Big Twin custom named “Lost Angel.” This year’s Calendar Show showcased not only top builders but selected vendors and exhibitors, and of course the Calendar Girl Music live performances. And as always, this year’s show celebrated the world premiere of the 2014 FastDates.com Motorcycle PinUp Calendars, featuring the world’s top SBK World Superbikes, sport and cafe bikes, and custom motorcycles with the beautiful Calendar Kittens. On hand throughout the day to meet with fans and pose for pictures were Calendar Kittens Apple Price, together with official SBK World Superbike grid girls Jessica Harbour and singer/songwriter Sarah Horvath.
