At the 73rd running of the Daytona 200, Danny Eslick piloted his #69 Discount Racing Triumph Daytona 675R to the win. It was Triumph’s first Daytona 200 win since Gary Nixon accomplished the feat back in 1967. And to commemorate Eslick’s historic win, Triumph released 47 Daytona 675R Eslick Edition sport bikes. These track-only motorcycles will don commemorative paint and graphics. “Each 675R Eslick Edition motorcycle is individually numbered, hand signed by Danny Eslick, customized with a combination of Triumph Genuine Accessories and hand selected aftermarket accessories, and comes with a signed Certificate of Authenticity,” Triumph says. “The custom paint features the authentic Riders Discount Racing and AMA Pro Road Racing sponsor decals as used on the Daytona 200-winning bike.” The 675R will also feature same performance parts on Eslick’s Daytona 200-winning bike. The parts include Attack Performance rear sets, Renthal grips and sprockets, as well as a 520 DID ERV3 gold chain. Also included are many Triumph Genuine Accessories, which include Lower Chain Guard, Red Anodized Chain Adjustment Blocks, Paddock Stand Bobbins, Engine Cover Kit, Seat Cowl Kit, Billet Oil Filler Cap and Oil Dipstick which are pre-drilled to be safety wired for track day and race riding. If it disturbs you it's wrong until either the machine or your mind is changed". But is any Triumph single ever capable of producing a sensation of tranquility, even when it is 'right'? I suspect not...
2014 Triumph America Horizon Revealed in CARB Documentation
Mon, 18 Mar 2013New documents released by the California Air Resources Board reveal the existence of a new model from Triumph to be called the America Horizon for the 2014 model year. As its name implies, the 2014 Triumph America Horizon will likely be based on the existing Triumph America (the 2012 America is pictured above with touring accessories as an illustration.) The CARB documents confirm it will use the same 865cc parallel-Twin engine as the America as well as the Bonneville, Scrambler, Thruxton and the Speedmaster. We predict a claimed output of 60hp at 6800rpm and 53 ft-lb.
2013 LA Calendar Motorcycle Show Report
Mon, 22 Jul 2013The 22nd edition of the annual LA Calendar Motorcycle Show marked its return to the Queen Mary Seawalk Village in Long Beach, California with hometown boy Sam Baldi taking the Bike Building Championship’s Best of Show trophy with a Jimmy Todorovith/Profile Cycles built Big Twin custom named “Lost Angel.” This year’s Calendar Show showcased not only top builders but selected vendors and exhibitors, and of course the Calendar Girl Music live performances. And as always, this year’s show celebrated the world premiere of the 2014 FastDates.com Motorcycle PinUp Calendars, featuring the world’s top SBK World Superbikes, sport and cafe bikes, and custom motorcycles with the beautiful Calendar Kittens. On hand throughout the day to meet with fans and pose for pictures were Calendar Kittens Apple Price, together with official SBK World Superbike grid girls Jessica Harbour and singer/songwriter Sarah Horvath.
