Here is a project bike my daughter and did over the winter of 2014.  Please note 'project' and not 'replication'.  To my knowledge, the US Amy never used a 650 Yamaha. My daughter chose the theme, dedicated to my own Army days.  This is a 1977 XS 650.  If you are familiar with them, you know that they are very easy to maintain and practically indestructible.  If you ride it every day, it normally starts 2nd kick.    I start it and ride around my place every couple of months and it still starts with 3-5 kicks.  It does pop and crack a bit until it warms up after that amount of time but that's expected.  The electric start is not hooked to a switch but is still functional for when ever you would like to use it.  (I'll show you). Please note that the battery box shown in some of my early pics was removed when I re-did some wiring.  The battery is now open air. This is a very fun bike.  I generally only ride it to bike nights or to scoot around town for an errand.

YAMAHA XS650 BOBBER REAR BRAKE ONLY CAN EASILY BE SET UP WITH FRONT BRAKE. THE SETUP ON THIS BIKE WILL SUIT SOMEONE UNDER 6 FT TALL,  IF FORWARD CONTROLS WERE USED SOMEONE OVER 6 FT WOULD FIT MORE COMFORTABLY.  THIS BIKE IS NICE BUT IT WAS BUILT TO RIDE AND IS NOT A SHOW BIKE.  IT HAS VERY NICE BLACK AND GOLD LACE PAINT. I HAVE PUT ON ABOUT 700 MILES SINCE I COMPLETED THE BIKE.  IT HAS A CLEAN TITLE, TITLED AS A 2015 ASVE XS650 (MONTANA SPECIAL CONSTRUCTION TITLE).

1980 Yamaha XS650 Custom Bobber. Runs very well, carbs fire very well. Bike has no leaks at all.This bike is 36 years old, so I will replace the battery and clean the carbs after purchase.

This is the same motorcycle that got second place in the Yamaha Bolt Build-off.  It is a complete custom with over $5000 in parts and even more in custom fabrication and paint.  The only change that has been made from the actual competition version is that it has been freshly painted.

When I purchased this bike it was missing lots of pieces and parts and was without title. It had been kept indoors. I completely went through the engine which looked good so it appeared to have low mileage.

Great bike new shocks and windshield. Tires are good drive it to work daily.

1977 Yamaha XS650 Custom Bobber "Nekked Hayla" - Built by Daniel Donley of Pandemonium Choppers in Defiance, Ohio. The bike was purchased by me from him in 2012. It also appeared in Cycle Source Magazine Volume 16 Issue 10 / January '13.

The bike is a custom built xs650 bobber. It has an inverted front end fitted with dual front brakes, new master cylinder and pads, custom bars and classic rubber grips, sportster tank and custom cap, one of a kind drop seat frame, jockey shift, custom made foot controls, brand new chain, fresh top end rebuild bored 20 over, new electronic ignition from mikes Xs, new pma charging system, new battery, new cables and more. Tired are in good shape.
