1977 Suzuki RM 80 First Year - Highly Collectible NO RESERVE You Bid - You Buy Up for sale is my 1977 Suzuki RM 80. I bought the bike with the intentions of restoring, but plans have changed. It has a new top end that was installed by the prior owner, it starts easily and has good power. It shifts and stops just like it should; however, it does seem to need carburetor tuning. The bike is missing the air box ( you can buy one on eBay for 40 dollars) and it is also missing the plastic side number plates. The tires will need replaced along with the seat cover. The bike is leaking gas from somewhere - it could be the petcock or shut off valve. (The picture of the piston is the one that came out of the bike when the top end was rebuilt. It is still very usable.) The day I bought it, the prior owner had it stored in his house. We moved it outside, he put gas in it, and went flying up the street. I brought it home that day, rode it around the yard, and pushed it into the corner behind my boat. I never really looked at it again so it is exactly like I bought it. The bike is not restored and needs some work, but a great bike to start with - it would make a perfect father /son project. The NADA book value is $3,500.00 - look for yourself. I am guessing it is highly valued because it is the first year for the RM 80 therefore making it rare and collectible. Tue, 10 May 2011An old friend dropped in this weekend, on his way back from an arse-killing 4,500 mile ride to Estoril and back to watch the MotoGP race. He has only ever ridden Harley chops and old stuff with the exception of his vague nod at practicality and modernity - an ancient, very, very high mileage R1100GS BMW. I made him a brew and some pasta arrabiatta then made him ride my 2011 Fireblade.
Eric Bostrom to Race TTXGP for Brammo at Laguna Seca
Thu, 26 Jul 2012Eric Bostrom has signed on to ride the Brammo Empulse RR in the electric motorcycle race at Laguna Seca July 28-29. The race is the final stop on the TTXGP‘s North American series and a joint event with the FIM’s ePower series. The AMA racing veteran will join Steve Atlas to represent Team Icon Brammo at Laguna Seca.
Knee-high land-speed record device
Wed, 28 Jul 2010This mad looking motorcycle is a land speed record device that never turned a wheel in anger. It was built by the infamous Dave Manning in 1968 using a discarded drop tank from a Korean fighter plane. Manning built a space-frame chassis inside the tiny teardrop and also managed to find room for a Suzuki T500 twin cylinder two-stroke motor.
