Suzuki Other description
Up for grabs is my 1970 Suzuki Hustler T250II Scrambler motorcycle. It has 1285 miles on the odometer which I believe to be original and actual as this bike sat upstairs at my grandparent's motorcycle shop for 20+ years. I took a liking to it since I was in my early teens and finally decided to pull the trigger. So I paid them for the old, OLD! service bill and titled it in my name last year. As a side note, the South Dakota title reads 'not actual' on the mileage area, which is due to the state not recording mileage on vehicles older than 10 years. As stated, I believe the mileage on the odometer to be actual because of the fact it has sat upstairs for such a long period of time.
I spent a lot of time messing with it and paid my good vintage motorcycle friend to run through it to make sure it was good to run. My wife and I took it on a few rides but I couldn't get it to run properly with the cold air intake I put on it. It doesn't want to idle and it was a little nerve racking at stop lights with my wife on the back having to rev it up so it wouldn't die on me. I had one of the mechanics try re-jetting it but I didn't want to spend a ton of money trying things that might not work. I should probably put the stock air box back on (which is included in the sale) but at this point we are having a baby in 3 months and I do not anticipate excess time nor money to continue tinkering on this bike. Sometime down the road I do plan on investing my money and knowledge to learn how to get my grandpa's old racing Ducati up and running, so for now this old gem needs to go to a new home that will appreciate her and give her what she needs.
I am including the stock headlight in addition to the stock air box as well. I ordered a newer style headlight and had it painted to match, it turned out pretty close. It has a new battery as of 3 months ago. I had to put a new ignition in because the keys were misplaced many many years ago. There are 2 keys for it.
I am selling this bike AS-IS with no warranty or promises of the runability - It does run but as mentioned before, doesn't want to idle well. It drips a little bit of oil in the garage after a week or so, but as I am not very mechanical I have no idea where it is coming from or how to fix it. There were no blinkers on it when I got it and it is kind of strange, but the headlight is on with the key in ON but when the brakes are applied, the brights go on. Previous owner must have switched a wire around or something is shorted. The horn does not work either.
