Suzuki GSX-R description

PLEASE READ ENTIRE LISTING BEFORE ASKING QUESTIONS OR ASSUMING ANYTHING. I have spent the time to detail and provide as much detail as possible.

Up for sale is a 1987 GSX-R 750. I am the second owner. The bike has clean and clear title. If you have been looking for an old GSX-R, this is the one. This bike was originally blue and white. The bike is now black with red decals. I purchased it from an old man. It belonged to his son. His son joined the Army and deserted the bike. The bike was in bad cosmetic shape when I bought it. Every major component is original (chassis, engine, rims, handle bar, fairings). Here is everything I have done to it:

  • New paint (including rims). Rims have "Suzuki GSX-R logos/decals"

  • Installed used after-market Vance and Hines exhaust

  • New clutch

  • New plugs

  • New brake and clutch lines

  • New smoked windshield

  • New tires

  • New oil and filter

  • New original mirrors

  • New after-market signals

  • New leather on seat and removable solo seat cowl. Solo seat cowl is very hard to find for this bike.

  • New original clutch and brake levers

  • New chain

  • New GSX-R chain guard. It does have a scratch (see photo)

  • Replaced fork seals and fluids

  • Replaced clutch fluid

  • New after-market chain guard with GSX-R logo

  • New head light cover (has slight crack because I over tightened screw)

  • New handle grips

  • Replaced all fairing screws with red after-market to match color scheme

  • New battery

  • Carbs cleaned and mechanically tuned perfect

The entire bike was painted black (including the tank). Shortly after, the tank had rust and leaked fuel. I had the tank professionally restored by Moyer Fuel Tank Renu (http://www.gas-tank.com/). It cost over $500 for the repair. It is guaranteed to NEVER rust. Please visit the site to understand their restoring process. The tank no has a primer color to it. It needs to be painted. That is the only thing remaining on the bike that needs to be done. I provided before and after photos to show what the bike will look like once the tank is repainted black again. Please be clear, the tank is currently NOT painted. The photo with the painted tank was prior to the fuel leak. However, it does have a tank bra. Here are some items that will come along with the purchase of the bike:

  • Tank bra (see photo)

  • Spare parts bike. Unassembled. No title. Includes frame, tank, rims, tires, forks, seat, all fairings, wiring, handlebar, headlights, speedometer, etc. (see photos). No exhaust.

  • Original owners manual

  • Passenger handle bars/grips (see photo)

  • Two bike stands (front and rear wheels. See photo)

  • Original Suzuki blue/white Shoei helmet

  • Original signals (see photo)

  • Suzuki oil and filters (for future oil changes)

  • Bike cover (see photo

Here is a bonus:

Before I restored the tank, I was in search of a replacement tank. If anyone who has ever tried finding parts for these old GSX-Rs will know how difficult it is to find a good condition part. I eventually found a tank but the seller did not want to part out his bike. I gave in and bought his unassembled project/bike. In the end, I never used the tank or any part from the bike. I restored my original tank. Now I have a spare 1987 GSX-R 750 unassembled (no exhaust). It does not have a title. All parts are there but UNASSEBLED. I am NOT sure if engine turns. All fairings are there and in great condition. Needs to be repainted. The bike is pretty much all there except for an exhaust.

BUYER WILL GET BOTH BIKES UNLESS HE/SHE DOES NOT WANT THE SPARE BIKE.

I have tried to include photos of everything I disclosed above so you can have a visual. Please be aware of what you are buying/biding on before you purchase. Sale is final. No returns. I am trying to do my best to explain everything so there is nothing missed. I am usually a buyer on eBay not a seller so I know how difficult it can be to purchase something without seeing it first. Ask any questions you want and I will do my best in getting you the answer promptly. This bike means a lot to me because I have always loved them since I was in high school. Ironically, I am forced to get rid of it before I had a chance to put 50 miles on it after I completed the restore. I am in need of cash and forced to separate with it. Both bikes are in Cedar Park, Texas (suburb of Austin). Buyer will be responsible to schedule and pay for shipping. All sales are final. No returns. I promise the bike starts and runs fine. No blemishes outside what I posted on the photos. This bike is not registered. I just recently cleaned the carbs and it runs fine. If you are the lucky owner of this bike you will need to ride it frequently. You cannot let it sit with fuel in the carbs. It will gum it up. If you plan to let it sit it will need to fully drain the carbs of fuel. The only cosmetic issues are a very small crack on the cowl (see photo), paint peeling/bubbling on some small engine parts due to fuel getting on it (see photo), and scratch on chain guard (see photo). Payment due upon end of auction. Both bikes and accessories will be ready for pick-up after full payment has cleared. Buyer will be responsible for scheduling and delivery costs.

Thanks for looking. Feel free to ask questions. Good luck bidding!

Suzuki Concludes MotoGP Test At Phillip Island

Thu, 05 Jun 2014

The Suzuki MotoGP team concluded its three-day test at Phillip Island in Australia today after rain and less-than-perfect track conditions hampered much of the progress the riders and technicians hoped to make. Test rider Randy De Puniet was joined by Voltcom Crescent Suzuki World Superbike rider Eugene Laverty for the first two days; unfortunately suffering a crash early on the first day due to the slippery and damp conditions. However the Irishman was able to complete 37 laps yesterday despite inclement weather that halted much of the testing on every day; and which included a large amount of geese on the circuit obstructing every session.

Former Grand Prix World Champion Kevin Schwantz has been making the headlines a lot recently, and not necessarily for good reasons. But finally there’s some good news: Schwantz is  coming out of retirement to race in the 2013 Suzuka 8 Hours endurance race. Schwantz is joining Yukio Kagayama‘s team for the July 28 race, riding a Japanese Superbike-spec Suzuki GSX-R1000.
