Suzuki GS description
Excellent original condition 1982 Suzuki GS550MZ Katana with only 6,374 miles! One of my collection that is being sold. This motorcycle is in absolutely perfect working mechanical condition. All controls, systems, etc work as new. The motorcycle was purchased from John Wilson at Akron GS Works, one of the best GS mechanics around. John worked on every part of this bike without "restoring" it. The paint, seat, frame, plastic side covers, exhaust, carbs, shocks, etc are all original. This is one of the very very few Katana 550's that I've seen that is unmolested and carries the original parts like the stock seat, factory exhaust, brakes, wheels, air box, carbs, shocks, etc. The fuel tank has some scratches in the paint from 34 years but is clean and pristine inside. The gauges work, lighting, gear position indicators (that are very cool) are all perfect. . The idea behind this bike was to take a 30+ year old but excellent condition bike and preserve as much originality as possible, but make sure that every system is as factory new and ready for 30 more years. This bike is an excellent candidate to take to vintage bike events. It was no easy task to get it to be ready to ride as new from the factory and John did an excellent job. The bike was made to ride as new and the following was done to it by the crew at Akron GS Works: Fork Seals replaced, handlebar grips new oem, fork tubes polished for pitting, throttle cable replaced, brake and clutch levers replaced and pivots lubed, new tach cable. Engine: Re-torque head bolts, new cam box gasket, replace cambox cover with NOS piece, adjusted valves, replaced gaskets for clutch cover, stator cover, CDI cover, new clutch OE Suzuki, oil change, filter, Castrol 10-40, drained and flushed fuel tank, replaced petcock, replaced exhaust port seals and polished oem exhaust, cleaned and fully rebuilt carbs with new pilot jet plugs, O-rings, and gaskets, complete tune-up and replaced air filter. Driveline/Chassis: Adjusted chain, checked front/rear wheel bearings (good), flushed brakes, cleaned reservoirs, replaced front mc reservoir, rebuilt rear caliper, replaced brake pads front and rear, replaced rear shocks with exc condition used oem units, stripped, clear-coat, sand and polish alloy cases, removed, cleaned, and rebuilt forks, replaced any corroded fasteners with oe fasteners, lubed swing arm and steering head bearings, new tires, Dunlop 404OE spec, replaced rotor retaining lock tabs on front and back wheels, replaced wheel bearings, replaced stator with rick's electronics 5-wire, verify and AOK charging system for amps and volts, touch-up paint frame where needed, clean and detail all chassis and bodywork parts as needed, I have indicated in phots where there are blemishes or imperfections. If I were to keep this bike I MIGHT paint the tank but as it is, it is more original and carries a cool patina of real use and low miles. New battery, starts immediately with choke and settles to a perfect idle in 15-20 seconds. Bike pulls clean and hard to redline with no flat-spots or hesitation. Carbs are PERFECT and runs perfect. I rode it in to work (almost 100 mile round trip) and it ran strong and steady the entire way. The rear adjustable shocks work great and changing settings from soft to firm is clicks away. This is a very cool original condition Katana 550. My other bike being auctioned is an equally nice 1983 CB1100F. Comes with clear title, two sets of keys, original tool kit, and original owners manual. |

Suzuki GW250 Inazuma Reportedly Coming to Canada
Tue, 30 Oct 2012The Suzuki Inazuma is coming to Canada, according to multiple reports. The entry-level motorcycle was displayed at a recent dealer meeting in Mont Tremblant, Quebec, though it appears Canadians may have to wait as bit longer for the Inazuma to arrive in showrooms. According to Canadian sites CMGOnline and MotorcycleMojo, Suzuki is in the initial stages of introducing the 248cc streetbike to Canada, so a 2014 launch may be more likely than 2013 availability.
2020 Suzuki V-Strom 1050XT Review – First Ride
Tue, 04 Feb 2020ADV for Everyman, now with more power and cruise control Credit: Photos by Suzuki and John Burns How can any red-blooded American not love Suzuki, the blue-collar working motorcycle so many of us thrashed as youths, left parked in alleys with no loss of sleep, covered in fur for a brief period there in the (I think) ’90s… In spite of all the abuse we dished out, Suzuki’s loyalty was never in question. 2020 Suzuki V-Strom 1050XT Editor Score: 88% Engine 18.0/20 Suspension/Handling 13.0/15 Transmission/Clutch 9.0/10 Brakes 8.5/10 Instruments/Controls 4.0/5 Ergonomics/Comfort 9.5/10 Appearance/Quality 8.5/10 Desirability 8.5/10 Value 9.0/10 Overall Score 88/100 2020 Suzuki V-Strom 1050 First Look Of all the GSX-Rs, GSX-Fs, SVs, RMs and TLs that have graced the editorial garage, I think the big V-Strom has emerged as my favorite, even if it wasn’t clear what role the first DL1000 was supposed to play in 2002? Back then, it was all about the GSX-R.
