WSBK 2013: Jerez Race Report

Eugene Laverty did everything he could, scoring a pair of race wins but it was not enough as Tom Sykes rode smartly and conservatively at the season finale in Spain, securing his first ever World Superbike Championship. Sykes landed in Jerez with a 37-point lead over Laverty and a 38-point lead over Sylvain Guintoli. While Laverty battled Marco Melandri to win Race One, Sykes coasted comfortably in third for most of the race to score 16 points, enough to clinch the title.

JAPANESE TUNING house Yoshimura has released a series of EEC-approved Slip-On exhausts suitable for the Suzuki Bandit GSF1250SA and the new fully-faired Suzuki GSX1250FA.At over 3kgs lighter than the OE Suzuki item, each Yoshimura Slip-On comes with the pipe work to mount to the standard front section plus all parts (including muffler clamp) required for installation. The EEC-approved silencer features two dB-killer baffles, one in the link pipe, one in the can and when both are removed power and torque are increased over stock, claim Yoshimura. John Hopkins Returning to British Superbike Racing

American racer John Hopkins is ready to make his comeback after taking the entire 2013 racing season off to recover from a number of injuries. The Ramona, Calif., native will make his return in the British Superbike Championship, racing for Tyco Suzuki on the TAS Racing GSX-R1000. Hopkins last raced in the series in 2011, finishing second overall in the championship that was decided in the final race when Hopkins finished 0.006 seconds behind the champion Tommy Hill.
