Suzuki to Trim US Powersports Dealership Network

When American Suzuki announced it was shutting down its automobile business, the company said it intended to focus on its powersports operations. It comes as a surprise then to some dealers that Suzuki is not renewing all of its dealership agreements. According to DealerNews, dealerships received letters this week from American Suzuki notifying them whether their franchise agreements would be renewed with the newly formed Suzuki Motor America.

2013 AIMExpo: Suzuki Unveils GW250

Suzuki unveiled a new lightweight naked standard motorcycle at the 2013 American International Motorcycle Expo (AIMExpo) – the GW250. Powered by a 248cc liquid cooled in-line twin-cylinder engine, the GW250 would seem an ideal choice for newcomers not interested in sportbikes like the Honda CBR250R and Kawasaki Ninja 300. 2013 US Motorcycle Sales Data

The Motorcycle Industry Council (MIC) reported a modest 1.4% growth in U.S. motorcycle and scooter sales in 2013, with consumers purchasing 465,783 vehicles. The sales data represents numbers from the MIC’s member brands which include BMW, Can-Am, Ducati, Harley-Davidson, Honda, Kawasaki, KTM, the Piaggio Group (which includes Aprilia, Moto Guzzi and Vespa), Victory, Suzuki, Triumph and Yamaha.
