O-ring chain.Don't let the age discourage you. This is a VERY capable light weight trail bike. Front and rear disc brakes so it stops as well as it goes. The bike is jetted perfectly and can be ridden in any throttle position with good quick throttle response, and it has excellent bottom end torque.RM head gasket which increases compression and increases torque and power. Ceramic coated piston dome, combustion chamber, exhaust valve and port. Piston skirt molybdenum coated for low friction and long life. The bike runs cooler due to these coatings and cost about $800. The bike is jetted for elevation or mountain trails and runs perfect. Custom radiator overflow setup.Even though it's a '96 it was purchased new in 2000 from Apex in Co Springs (have the original purchase agreement). My dad is the second owner, and he wanted a plated two stoke so he purchased it from the original owner this past summer and he rode it once, and I rode it once. Tue, 09 Nov 2010Got to apologise for the mogadon-inspired soundtrack but this 1979 Kawasaki promo vid' is worth watching just for the footage of Freddie Spencer and Wes Cooley. Watch the slo-mo of Cooley's GS1000 Suzuki on the brakes. It's horrendous.

Mon, 09 Jul 2012If you miss seeing factory two stroke racing machinery being ridden properly then you should consider a trip to the Spa classic event in 2013. I was the lucky recipient of an invitation to ride there last week and had a blast riding some tasty kit from the past. I went well at Spa in 250cc GPs but the circuit scared me on the 500s.

The event’s sponsor, Monster Energy, has released a video offering a behind-the-scenes look at the event. The seven-time F1 champion was joined by TT racer John McGuinness, retired MotoGP racer Randy Momola, Moto2 racer Pol Espargaro and Keith Flint, a musician from the group Prodigy and a racer in the U.K.’s Hottrax Endurance Championship.
