Suzuki Intruder tech info
Suzuki Intruder description
I bought this bike this past March with every intention of fixing and riding it. The person I bought it from said he used it as a daily commuter until he busted his knee into a pickup tail gate and no longer wanted to ride. It sat all winter and spring without being winterized and when he went to sell it it would not start. Unfortunately when he hit the pickup he messed up the corner of the tank and the left foot peg. Again I bought and was going to fix it, but as an auto mechanic that does a lot of side work, I have yet to get to it. I did look over the bike and there are few things that will need to be done. Some things already done are replacing the rear tire with a new Pirelli rear tire. Front is low and about 50 percent on the thread. I replaced the battery with a new one. I replaced the rear coil. It was getting no fire. That's as far as it has gotten, but the things it needs are: Carbs need to be rebuilt and jetted for the aftermarket exhaust that was put on. It needs a starter solenoid, which is a simple fix they cost 10 bucks and are easy to put on. The tank will need to be replaced for the bike to be right. After an exhaustive and expensive search I found the exact replacement tank but it is a different color so it will need to be painted if you want it to match. This tank is rare hard to find and expensive, However will be included with this bike if it reaches reserve. Also included is leather bag that fits over the back rest and the replacement foot peg. I suspect it may need a stator and clips which I bought new and will include as well. The 1400 Intruders are rare and I would really like this to go to someone who will fix it and ride it. It is a great cruiser.
Please ask questions and I will do my best to answer them. The bike turns over and the piston compression is in spec so it is definitely worth working out the carb and electrical issue. Please don't expect a running bike that you can hop on and ride. This one will need some work. So if you're not handy or not willing to pay someone to do the repairs, pass on this one. Bid only if you want and plan to pay and pickup the bike. I am very busy and this consumes a fair amount of time to do pictures and listing. Please keep in mind that the Pirelli and the battery was more than the opening bid on this bike, not to mention the replacement tank, so my loss will be someone's gain. I tried to take a lot of pictures and give a true impression of the condition both good and bad. Clean and clear title in my name. Bike must be picked up. No shipping. |
