This bike is in immaculate condition, there are no scratches on any of the bodywork or tank. This bike flat-out rips. The goal when doing the cylinder head/cams was a killer mid-range and a nice, strong top end. If you've ridden a stock GSXR-1K then you are familiar with the awesome mid-range;imagine that same killer mid-range but dramatically stronger from 5000 rpm up to redline and that's how this bike pulls. It has a very strong top-end pull as well. If you've spent any time on a BMW S1000RR or Gen4 ZX10R then you know how amazing the top-end pull is,but the mid-range is a bit weak.

That's what I wanted to avoid, since a street bike that is weak below 9k rpm really isn't fun to ride,I don't know anyone that cruises around town at 9,000 rpm+ all the time. This L3 1K has,in my opinion, the perfect combination of mid-range grunt followed by an awesome pull to redline.

All work was performed by Mike at SAE Outlaw Performance and a full build sheet with all parts, services&prices goes with the sale.

I may possibly have the ECU flashed to remove restrictions, etc but I haven't decided yet. This should give a small bump in rwhp.
Suzuki front master cylinder recall has not been performed as I do not feel comfortable leaving this bike in the hands of a dealership mechanic. Recall will be responsibility of new owner. However, the front brakes work PERFECTLY as is.

I am the original owner of this bike. I'm selling it due to major back surgery in 2015 and for me, it's very uncomfortable to ride;I'm done after 30-45mins. Hence the low miles. I had the head/cams done at 2500mi so I rode it 500miles in the last 1.5yrs. I have 4 other bikes that are more comfortable to ride,so this awesome GSXR-1000 sits under a blanket in the garage on a battery tender. I may ride the bike while the auction is active so mileage may increase. I also have the bike listed locally and may end auction at any time.
Bike is sold AS IS,no warranty! Bike is available for pick up. Shipping is the responsibility of the seller but I will help facilitate if possible. I am a private seller selling my own vehicle here. Full payment is due 24hrs after winning bid. Certified bank check for payment only;funds MUST CLEAR before bike will be released.

Schwantz and Mackenzie on the Nurburgring box

Mon, 10 Dec 2012

A 500GP bike never fails to stop me in my tracks and that’s exactly what happened when I spotted this Schwantz example from the early nineties, proudly displayed on the Arai stand at the recent Motorcyclelive show.  On loan from Crescent Suzuki and accompanied by a rostrum publicity shot from the 1990 German GP at the Nurburgring, I felt the urge to write a few words on that special weekend. I started the year running my own 250 GP team with fairly standard TZ Yamahas but was drafted in as Kevin Schwantz’s team mate after Kevin Magee suffered a serious head injury at the second Grand Prix in Laguna Seca.  With no testing and some major Spanish food poisoning I finished 8th at the next round in Jerez then followed that up with a 5th place in Misano. Next up was the Nurburgring and after qualifying on the second row of the grid, my crew chief Geoff Crust informed me he had a premonition of a race day rostrum finish. He also told me I better make it come true as he was already looking forward to a few post race celebratory refreshments. While I hoped Crusty was the new mystic meg, the truth was I would have been more than happy to buy the beers if I made it to the flag inside the top five. I had an outside chance of catching one major scalp as Wayne Rainey was riding with a nasty hand injury but I suspected adrenalin would see him through the day. I also followed Mick Doohan a fair bit in practice but he was beginning to find his feet on the Rothmans Honda so was going to be another problem.  When the lights went out Schwantz and Rainey went straight to the front I while I hung in behind Doohan and Pier Francesco Chilli, and then it happened. Coming out of the bottom right hand hairpin, Doohan and Chilli simultaneously high sided in one of the most spectacular crashes of the season. I never liked seeing any fellow riders crash but I made the most of this early race gift and rode my 160bhp/115kg RGV hard to the flag, claiming my first podium of the season.  We partied hard (win or lose we always did) that night and I went on to have my best ever season finishing fourth overall in the championship. After the last round in Australia, I finished second to Kevin at Sugo in Japan then won in Malaysia at another international race that KS didn’t attend. I also tested at Eastern Creek for the following season but then was flicked from the team for reasons that still remain a mystery. Hey Ho!

Hopkins Breaks Hand in Testing Crash – Yes, THAT Hand

Mon, 13 Feb 2012

Crescent Fixi Suzuki racer John Hopkins has broken a bone in his right hand during the first day of testing at Australia’s Phillip Island circuit. The injury was to the same hand Hopkins injured last season that eventually led to the amputation of the tip of his ring finger. Hopkins high-sided entering a corner riding a 2011-spec Suzuki GSX-R1000 (the 2012 superbike was not yet ready).

Goodbye RM85 Suzuki

Tue, 10 May 2011

An old friend dropped in this weekend, on his way back from an arse-killing 4,500 mile ride to Estoril and back to watch the MotoGP race. He has only ever ridden Harley chops and old stuff with the exception of his vague nod at practicality and modernity - an ancient, very, very high mileage R1100GS BMW. I made him a brew and some pasta arrabiatta then made him ride my 2011 Fireblade.
