                                                                                            1980 Suzuki GS1000 Superbike

History was made when Suzuki introduced this bike.  The Superbike wars between manufacturers were underway.  This particular GS1000 is a very nice bike.  It is from Michigan and has been owned and run here in the state all its' life to the best of my knowledge.  It is a 4 cylinder, 4 stroke, 90 horsepower, 5 speed trans superbike with a top speed of near 130 mph.  It has dual overhead cams, reaches 9000 r.p.m., is shaft drive and has a 5.81 gallon fuel tank.  The bike starts up and runs, it brakes well, including the dual front discs which work well, and the rear disc brake which also works well.  As you can see, the lights and turn signals all work well too.  The bike has a Kerker 4 into 1 exhaust system that is quite functional and has no holes.  The bike is straight with no frame cutting or alterations.  With the original engine, the bike does not smoke, there are no oil leaks, and it does not have any clicking or clanging or any weird engine noises.  The wheels are true and straight and the tires do not have any weather checking.  I had the carbs removed and cleaned and set and re-installed this summer.  I do feel that they still need to be synched and you will want to do this so budget for it.  But that is all I can think of that the bike needs, except maybe in a few thousand miles, you might wish to replace the rear tire.  All in all, this bike is pretty bad to the bone.  I have the CLEAR TITLE to the bike ready to transfer.  Do a google search on this bike!!!!!   Wes Cooley, the amazing racer from southern California, won both the 1979 and the 1980 AMA Superbike Championships on a GS1000!!!!    Very radical back in the day and still is today, almost 40 years later!!! Bid to win. Please read my payment terms first!!  NO WARRANTIES.....If you get buyers remorse, or are looking for a new bike, please move on. This is a 40 year old machine and as such, may require someone who understands how to tinker with old bikes.   THANKS.HERE'S HOW PAYMENT WORKS:  PAY PAL ONLY.  WHEN YOU WIN THE BIKE, YOU MESSAGE ME YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS THAT IS LINKED TO YOUR PAY PAL AND I SEND YOU AN INVOICE TO PAY THEN.  EASY STUFF.  THANKS.  ASK QUESTIONS IF YOU HAVE ANY.

This bike is located in Onsted, Michigan 49265 which is 62 miles southwest of Detroit and 45 minutes northwest of Toledo, Ohio.  I do not ship vehicles,  and I am not a dealer or a mechanic.  The buyer is responsible to arrange and pay for their own shipping or pick the vehicle up.  I will store the vehicle for up to 30 days.  Please try to get it picked up by then, otherwise, storage fees of $10 per day will be added to what you owe. Thanks.

PAYMENT:  Please, PAY PAL ONLY.   I send you an Invoice as soon as the auction ends and you pay the Invoice then please.  You will need to give me your email address as soon as you buy the bike ok?  These are my terms.  Thank you.

Hopper,Cogger and Rossigate

Tue, 05 Apr 2011

Rizla Suzuki welcomed back John Hopkins to Jerez and by the end of day one the American was posting some very respectable lap times. To me it seems like yesterday, but it was way back in 2007 when he last rode for the British based team ending the season 4th in the World Championship. The dry qualifying went well but he wasn’t too upset when it rained on race day as he admitted to not being bike fit and would have struggled to maintain a fast dry race pace.

Old boys up front and where are the new 600 Gixers?

Mon, 28 Feb 2011

As I’ve been gagging for the new race season to kick off so it was almost a pleasure getting up at stupid 0 clock to watch the World Superbike Championship  opener at Phillip Island last weekend. I have to say Messrs Burnicle and Whitham were on form although I was disappointed there were none of the usual verbal attacks on each other that always add to the entertainment.    I’m sure they will put things right soon but the world superbike regulars must have been disheartened that Moto GP veterans nailed five of the six available rostrum slots.

Suzuki to Trim US Powersports Dealership Network

Thu, 21 Mar 2013

When American Suzuki announced it was shutting down its automobile business, the company said it intended to focus on its powersports operations. It comes as a surprise then to some dealers that Suzuki is not renewing all of its dealership agreements. According to DealerNews, dealerships received letters this week from American Suzuki notifying them whether their franchise agreements would be renewed with the newly formed Suzuki Motor America.
