The Boulevard or Savage uses a 30 horsepower, 652 cc, four-stroke, single-cylinder, air-cooled, sohc engine, also referred to as thumper. This engine delivers good performance at moderate revs compared to most Japanese motorcycle engines. The Boulevard 650 is a good motorcycle for beginners with its easy handling and light weight at 352 pound. Its cruiser design and ease of maintenance also make it suitable for older, more experienced riders. Suzuka Eight Hour capers
Mon, 05 Sep 2011Chatting to TT legend John McGuiness recently about his first Suzuka Eight Hour experience got me thinking of a few capers the boys and me managed a few years back at what is still Japan's most important race of the season. It is a unique event that starts at 11am and finishes at 7pm making it a pukka endurance race as the last hour is run with headlights on in the dark. It is essentially an eight hour sprint that showcases the trickest endurance machinery and manufacturer’s sales can be affected the following year depending on who wins or loses.

Tue, 10 May 2011An old friend dropped in this weekend, on his way back from an arse-killing 4,500 mile ride to Estoril and back to watch the MotoGP race. He has only ever ridden Harley chops and old stuff with the exception of his vague nod at practicality and modernity - an ancient, very, very high mileage R1100GS BMW. I made him a brew and some pasta arrabiatta then made him ride my 2011 Fireblade.
