Norton Commando tech info

Norton Commando description
This rare Commando is one(1) of four(4) bikes for sale from my collection, and is currently part of a two(2) month exhibit ending on 9/5/16 at The Stony Brook Museum Educational and Cultural Center in Stony Brook, New York. It was purchased by me in 1995 as a basket case and underwent a 100% total restoration entailing every nut and bolt in the machine. The engine has been totally rebuilt (cases split) and rebuilt with all new internals, super-blend bearings, pistons, rings, valves, guides, springs, etc.. Internals were balanced, Boyer electronic ignition, new clutches, Transmission rebuilt, sprockets renewed, forks rebuilt with new seals and progressive springs. Newer version vernier adjustable isolastic suspension, new rims with S/S spokes, new exhaust pipes and mufflers, much re-chroming---a total rebuild/restoration that took many hours. All parts were purchased from Walridge Motors, Canada--the 'source' for OEM parts for British bikes. First registered in 1999 by me it has been ridden every year ( for a few hundred miles ) and continuously maintained. The original fuel tank is fiberglass and on the shelf with a correct alloy tank currently installed (shown in pictures) due to alcohol additives in gasoline. New Amal 930 Concentrics installed in June of 2016. This bike is quick, light, and handles wonderfully and has a great sound---it is worthy of the 'Snortin Norton' nickname. A Norton Villiers 750 Commando Shop Manual and indoor full cover are included in this sale. |

Prince William The Duke Of Ducs And Other Motorcycles
Mon, 02 Dec 2013The Duke of Cambridge, Prince William, visited Britain’s largest motorcycle show, Motorcycle Live, at the National Exhibition Center in Birmingham. The visit saw the Duke astride numerous motorcycle models including UK icons Norton and Triumph as well as a Ducati 1199 Superleggera (one of the few men able to afford the $70,000 rarity). During his visit Prince William enjoyed a display of off-road riding – one of nine opportunities for visitors to ride at Motorcycle Live, eight of which are inside the halls of the NEC. He also met Dean Linehan, exhibitions director of MCI Exhibitions, the company that organizes the annual motorcycle exhibition.
