Under the Skin of a KTM RC8 R-Powered Sidecar Racer

If you’ve never seen a sidecar race, you’d be amazed at how different it is from motorcycle racing. Not only do you have some entirely different physics at work with the third wheel, you also have a passenger sprawled over the chassis behind the rider, sticking his body out to either side at lean angles that would make Marc Marquez break a sweat. 2014 KTM 1290 Super Duke R Patriot Edition Revealed

We’re still a couple of days away from the Fourth of July but KTM is already in the patriotic spirit. KTM invited several hundred American dealers to its factory in Austria to discuss its upcoming products. One of the new models discussed was the upcoming KTM 1290 Super Duke R, and KTM surprised dealers with a special Stars and Stripes livery.

With young Taylor finally lifting my riding ban from his 125 Duke last week (I snapped the gear lever off in a failed garden stunt), I’ve been clocking up a few miles on what surely is the ‘must have’ learner bike of 2011. Last week I hopped aboard for a jaunt into the heart of Leicester where you can still park bikes for free then walk to all the major shops in minutes. I needed to appear in person at the main Post Office for an International Driving Permit as I found out without one; I couldn’t drive during my trip up coming trip to the Japanese Grand Prix.
