Reunited with his long-time mentor and Red Bull KTM Team Manager Roger de Coster, Dungey deliver KTM its first ever AMA Supercross main eventwin, he also won KTM its first AMA Motocross title. The only real disappointment was Dungey breaking his collarbone during the Supercross season, forcing him out of several rounds.

In between these small and large naked bikes, KTM announced a new R-spec version of its middleweight 690 Duke. The 690 Duke was introduced in 2007 and received a substantial update last year with a 690cc engine claiming 67 hp, leading KTM to call it the world’s most powerful Single in a production model.

KTM has now revealed the beast, presenting the new 1290 Super Duke R prototype at the 2012 EICMA Show in Milan, Italy. Due to launch some time in 2013, the KTM 1290 Super Duke R will top a full line of naked Duke models which includes the 125, 200, newly revealed 390, 690 and 990.

To be officially unveiled next week at the 2012 EICMA show, the new model is still unnamed, though judging by the brief glimpses of its styling and the KTM North American dealer meeting slide that leaked earlier this year, we’re pretty sure this new prototype will eventually become the KTM 1290 Super Duke. We’ll have more information Nov.
