In addition, the braces that connect the cylinder head were optimized. This means all new frames not only have a striking new color but also set the clear benchmark with respect to weight and stability.Fuel tankAll fuel tanks are made of lightweight polythene. The 4-stroke models are fitted with fuel pumps and pressure regulators. The release mechanism of the bayonet filler cap has been optimized so the cap can be opened quicker and easier.Triple clampsThe lower triple clamp has been redesigned for optimum accomodation of the new front fender. Day 7 Dakar 2014: Barreda Wins Another
Mon, 13 Jan 2014After a day of rest, Sunday’s stage seven was characterized by rain during the night and a new Dakar country – Bolivia. After an early start at 4:30 in the morning, the first 62 miles of the special stage into Bolivia had to be shortened due to rain and poor visibility, low-hanging clouds that prevented the helicopters from taking off creating security issues. The route led across the Andes and towards the Bolivian border.
Day 2 Dakar 2014: Sunderland Wins First Special Stage
Mon, 06 Jan 2014Honda won the second day of competition with Team HRC’s Sam Sunderland claiming victory in the first special stage of this year’s Dakar. Sunderland has had a frustrating time at previous Dakars, dropping out after three days of racing in 2012 and withdrawing a month before last year’s event due to fracturing both his wrists. Today, however, Sunderland made a grand entrance into the club of elite riders by brilliantly winning his first special stage of this year’s Dakar. Having started well behind his teammate, Joan Barreda, the 23-year old Brit superbly overtook Michael Metge and Juan Pedrero on the first part of the route.
2014 HRC Dakar Team Announced
Thu, 30 May 2013Today at Mugello, ahead of this weekend’s MotoGP race at the famous Italian racetrack, Team HRC unveiled its 2014 Dakar team and motorcycle. Interestingly, one person many thought could be a Red Rider this year after leaving KTM, Cyril Despres, will not be riding a Honda next year, instead joining Yamaha’s Dakar effort. However, HRC’s team still features five accomplished riders: Helder Rodrigues (Portugal), Sam Sunderland (UK), Javier Pizzolito (Argentina), Joan Barreda (Spain) and Paulo Goncalves (Portugal), all of whom will be competing on the CRF450 Rally.
