Under the Skin of a KTM RC8 R-Powered Sidecar Racer

Not only do you have some entirely different physics at work with the third wheel, you also have a passenger sprawled over the chassis behind the rider, sticking his body out to either side at lean angles that would make Marc Marquez break a sweat. Fri, 17 Feb 2012KTM's return to racing in the Moto3 class has resulted in one of the most exotic race machines for the new four-stroke replacement class. The lightweight 24kg 250cc single-cylinder four-stroke engine has been connected to a trellis frame, and it is all contained within a beautifully crafted carbon-fibre shell that includes a self-supporting seat unit. Now in its second stage of development, the whole package has been pretty impressive in testing, with Red Bull Ajo KTM riders Danny Kent and Sandro Cortese putting in some fast laps.
Day 2 Dakar 2014: Sunderland Wins First Special Stage
Mon, 06 Jan 2014Honda won the second day of competition with Team HRC’s Sam Sunderland claiming victory in the first special stage of this year’s Dakar. Sunderland has had a frustrating time at previous Dakars, dropping out after three days of racing in 2012 and withdrawing a month before last year’s event due to fracturing both his wrists. Today, however, Sunderland made a grand entrance into the club of elite riders by brilliantly winning his first special stage of this year’s Dakar. Having started well behind his teammate, Joan Barreda, the 23-year old Brit superbly overtook Michael Metge and Juan Pedrero on the first part of the route.
